Tint laws are followed just about as much as the "Can't take a bath on Wednesday" law.

Hah, so true.

nice link, thanks

Good link but I know atleast PA is not complete. Do not count yourself legal just cause that site says you are. IT skips a lot about tinting in PA

S.U.V.s often have different regulations, which are not listed here.
Their info is broad, so the X might have different rules.

What does it mean by "visor?" What part is that?

The top of the windshield and down 6 inches.

I understand its broad but they skipped a lot of car laws. IN PA you may NOt tint anything in front of the drivers eyes. And technicaly (rarely followed or even known.) a passenger car may ONLY tint the rear glass. Only SUV's vans and wagons may tint other than that

Very interesting. I do know this. Its my personel opinon. But Factory Tint is the best to me. Cause its Sprayed on and won't possible chip or come off.

the laws ARE vague, and are probably enforced with varied tenacity state by state. but i DO know, that 4 yrs ago, here in NC, i was pulled over for speeding. the officer noticed that my tint was obviously too dark. thats fine...but what shocked me was that instead of simply giving me a warning, i recieved a ticket AND had to remove ALL of the illegal tint right there on the spo, and he wouldnt leave until i did. it was really embarrassing since i had this girl in the car i had just started talking to.

Thats harsh man. I was in VA once and a cop pulled me over for a radar detector. Well long story short he ticketed me and put the detector under my tire and told me to leave. :(

When I lived in the farming area of Kansas they strictly enforced it by using light meters in each cop car. In the urban areas its not enforced that much unless your tinting is way too dark. Also the tinting stores will get huge fines if they put on someones tinting that was illegal.

yea you would think that about the stores. when i had gotten that tint. i asked for them to "go as dark as you can go". i figured they would go as dark as they legally could. so the notion of what was legal and what was not didnt cross my mind, and that it ultimately would be their arse if they didnt comply...who knew.. thats incredible about the detector man. i cant believe he would make ya destroy it.

That law changed 2 months ago. Instead of confisgating or breaking it, its a 35$ fine and 42$ court cost which is a total of a 77$ fine. MY buddy got caught with one and the cop told him that and let him go even on a warning!
I now own and use a radar detector because of the speed traps they think they are slick about around here. A radar dectector ticket is 20$ less than a tickect for going 1mph over

Luckily in kansas the radar detectors are legal.

What % of tint came with the 93 Limited from the factory, anyone know?
