Also this is a good place to mount a First Aid kit, Reasons being is that the handle on the first aid kit can be used to help open the Jack compartment, and its Not Mounted "permenantly" to the truck, and you can still take it to the scene of the "accident".

is the first aid on velcro or something? or 3M tape?

It is bolted to the Jack compartment door.

how do you get it off in emergencies? take the door w/ you?

YUP!

LMAO thats got to be weird seeing you run to a sceen w/ the whole door and ppl sayinf WTF is that.

It has'nt happened yet.

If anyone ever does say anything, tell 'em its an emergency splint!:D

LOL

If you have a sport you can mount them right below the seatbelts for the front driver and passenger. That is where I have mine mounted. The only problem is that they get somewhat squished when you lay the seats down. However its really not that big of a deal. Plus they are in reach of you if you need it right away. Or the passenger.

I have mine mounted on the trans hump right under the ash tray, I prefer that over the far back in case I ever need it I dont want to run to the back, fin out it is locked, (always is when you are in a hurry, funny ford trick) then run back to the front unlock, run back to the rear unhook it and then find out the X has burnt to the ground!

well i already mnounted it! oh well and i have a center consul so i couldn't mount it there. i'll manke sure unlock before i get it.

Fire Extinguisher

here's where I put it...

I just got a fire extinguisher that I'm probably going to mount under the ashtray on the trans hump. Does everyone here leave their fire extinguisher in the truck all the time? Mine says not to store in temperatures above 120 but I'm sure some of you live in hotter areas than me. I also have window visors so I can leave my windows down a bit in summer which should help the interior of my X stay cooler than most cars.

Take a look at my signature I have a few pictures of my Extinguisher. Mine is ok with the temps. It's rated for hotter than 120`F don't know what it is though!

I'm Sorry, Guys...

... But I am going to strongly disagree with most of those mounting areas.

The physics of extreme deceleration are beyond what most of us realize. When you are in an accident and experience immediate stoppage from any speed - even what would be considered slow such as 30 mph - the effects are quite surprising and severe.

Mount any heavy object like a fire extinguisher behind you on the plastic of the door pillars or on the ledge of the jack compartment or anywhere else like that (I don't care if it is buttressed with underlying metal strips) and if you ever have a frontal collision, the inertia will rip that sucker right out of its mount and your "safety equipment" will become a ballistic missile that will fly forward and take off your head. I would never mount a fire extinguisher anywhere behind my head or my guest's heads unless it was securely bolted directly to the frame with a strong release that won't fail under the extreme G forces normally experienced during a collison.

All those mounts look really cool. I just hope none of you ever get in an accident.

That's one of the reasons mine is mounted on the tire hump butted up against the rear seat. It's also bolted down through the wheel well, not just through the plastic. If I ever get in a front end collision and it does break free, it's gonna slam into the back of the seat.

never thought of getting into an accident and having that thing comeing at me! i'll just pray that it doesn;t happen! if it does i'll remember to duck!

guess i should wear a helmet now. or build a little skid plate for the top of my seat so i don't get "extinguished"

i'll just hope that mine comes off fast enough that it cruises over my head while i'm lurching forward into the airbag... or something like that.
good point about it flying off. maybe i'll look into something different for it.
