I recently noticed that on my rear bumper, the paint has flaked off at both of the back edges (where road grime will hit the bumper after leaving the wheels) and now the bumper in those areas is becoming extremely rusted. How should I go about fixing this, short of buying a new bumper? It's not that bad right now, but I know it is only going to get worse the longer I let it go.

...Bump...
Nobody's got ideas?

Sand it down, spray it with some Extend (rust stopping spray) and then repaint it. Did it to my '92 and it was still fine w5 years later when it got wrecked.

My '91 Sport's bumpers were rusting out also, so to fix them, I just replaced the front and rear bumper's with a pair of used chrome bumpers from a '94 XLT. They fit perfectly and look great. There are pics here: www.f150world.com/crossman

Rusty bumpers be Gone!

A friend of mine has an '83 Chevy Malibu Wagon that had some rusty bumpers, we got bored one day and were waxing it, I waxed the back bumper and lo and behold the rust came off, there are still some pits in it, but it's visibly gone.
