Flooded the engine!!!! need help!!!!

Highly doubt a fuel pump would cause a lean condition. But, a quick way to test is to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and go run it. Most Fords like right around 40psi of fuel pressure, everywhere in the load/rpm range.

I would look more into the MAF. The MAF not reading correctly could cause the injectors to not be pushing enough fuel, causing a lean condition, thus setting the check engine light. The MAF has two very, very delicate wires on the inside , and they don't like water.

A fuel pump typically just GOES. They refuse to start, and usually hitting the bottom of the gas tank with a 2x4 will get one running. However, that one time it starts from hitting the tank is usually the last time it runs until it's replaced.

yes
too lean could mean about 30 different codes
there are 4 oxygen sensors on a 97 explorer, so the code will tell you which one is reading lean

lean could mean many things, Is this related to your water ingestion?

i am not sure all i know is after the water whole its been running like this and then the check engine light is on so i am not sure... i had no problems before this incident so i wanna say its related

Change your oil! If the engine ingested any water I guarantee you come of that ended up in the oil! However the water in the oil wouldn't be the source of your problem. Pull codes!

Definitely agree with Hanhs. Water in the oil won't make it run like hell, but it is NOT healthy for the motor. Knowing the actual code that the CEL is set for is definitely the place to start.

K i went and got the codes this time...
PO171
PO174

we went to the computer and it said that when both of these are showing that the mass air flow could be gettting bad readings.... the fuel injecters came up for both of them also so i picked up Gumout which is a high concentrated injector cleaner and then came home and sprayed the puss out of my MAF with the CRC MAF cleaner

Dirt in the engine is just about the worst thing to have occur. Don't let any dirt get into the engine, it kills bearings, thus the whole engine. This has nothing to do with symptoms, the dirt will simply ruin the engine regardless of how it is running.

Change the air filter, buy the best available. Change the oil, it must be clean, not just look good on a dipstick. Change the plugs, then worry about cleaning the MAF, injectors, fuel filter, trans fluid etc.

Anytime water or dirt gets through the air filter, change the air filter, oil, and plugs. Good luck,
