Ford Explorer Stock Radio Replacement

Hey everyone, I've been the proud owner of a '99 Eddie Bauer Explorer for almost half a year now and I have been loving it. But, like most Explorers around this model year, the display on my radio is out. To get around this, I just put in a clock held on by some velcro pieces and it has worked fine. However, I am now looking at replacing the radio to make it look better (I'm all about style). Anyway, one of the features that I love with my Eddie is the radio controls on the steering wheel and I really would not like to lose them. Does anyone know if these controls still work if the radio is replaced with an non-stock radio? Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing cause I would hate to lose the steering wheel controls. I did have a thought though. I wonder how hard it would be to say take apart the remote from an after market stereo and mount them somehow under the button on the wheel. Hmmm

Just send it to the guy in Washington. The fix is guaranteed for life and his turn around is great too. Had mine done a while back, no problems since and you get to keep the stock look and all the controls.
