I've posted this question on another site also and would like to see what you guys think.

On my B2 I've already done the D35 swap and now I'm thinking of going to a D44 axle. My question; to keep with the stock width or no more then the D35 does this leave me with only one option, that being the early Bronco front D44? Any other options out there. Is there custom kits available?

Take a full width D44 from a F100/F150 and chop 6" off the long side. Use stock EB shafts.

then when you dont need your D35 anymore let me know, what gearing do you have in the 35?

a friend of mind bolted an EB D44 up to his ranger and he said he had hardly any fabbing to do to get it to work. they shouldnt be too hard to find, right?

I personally like the narrowed high pinion like 90Ranajo mentioned, but plenty of guys have done 44 swaps with Jeep Wagoneer Dana 44s as well.

you just can't sit still can ya?

I'm telling ya-
I see how doughty Rick is and use it for my own motivation

ok, back to the build

Hey, thanks for all those good tips. Now I'll start checking the ads and salvage yards. This is by no means going to start soon, but If I can find the right axle, who knows.

The D35 I have is geared 3:73 but for someone else to use it I don't know becuase I have those Coilover shock mounts welded to it. I really want a front locker for it also and do not want to sink that kind of money in the D35.

That high pinion sounds really cool. Just cut down long side, Hmmm.

Hey Turdle, I do like to keep moving on this LOL. Now back to the build.

Well, this is probably the best thread about Dana 44s on this site.

There's a link buried in there someplace by yours truly with instructions on how to cut down the axle. If you're feeling doughty I say give it a shot. It's nothing harder than everything else you've done. I didn't realize you were still running a 35, for some reason with the coilovers I assumed you had a solid axle.
