Has any one pulled the front driveshaft and drove with the transfer case still bolted up. Or unbolted the transfer case and drove leaving the auto trans in. Since I weep oil from stress cracks I'm looking to visit my daughter in az and don't want a hand geranade on the road.

Question I just went on the ranger fourm and there's plenty of awd Mounties that pulled the front driveshaft. But they said check roll control on a hill. Won't the parking paw lock the rear like a 2 wd truck.

The 4wd transmission has a different tail shaft than the 2wd so you would need a transfer case there for the driveshaft. I wouldn't pull the front driveshaft, you jack one wheel off the ground and the van wants to roll away. Don't rube goldberg this...

I was wondering if you could drive with the front drive shaft pulled. On the ranger station guys with awd mountinars pull ther front shaft for spring and summer. But they said there's a chance of roll away. I changed the front tire Monday jacked up the front and it rolled on the trolley jack.
I thought parking paw would have held it since both rear wheels were on the ground.
I want to go see my daughter in Tucson she lives by the military base. And I've never taken the pug shuttle more that 10 miles. I can pack up the jeep with the wife and pugs. But with my ms the van is more comfort for me. I miss driving the van it's fantastic better than the 16 trail hawk. We have 2 months of bad weather in Vegas then spring. All of February is monsoon and winter cold is starting now. By st pats day all veggies are planted and June is picking season.

Maybe I'm missing the point? Your transfer case has a problem and might fail. You want to remove the front drive shaft and take a long road trip through the desert on a road with no towns and non existent cell service. The cheapest repair would be to get a BW1359 transfer case from a bronco II and run it as a 2wd. I'm going to tucson next weekend for the roadkill zip-tie drags event, I'd drop the $35 to race against your van down the 1/4 mile.

Don't bronco 2 came with with a dummy transfer case if it was 2wd. The reason to pull the front shaft is since I weap oil I'm going to drive 250 miles at 65/70 I don't know how much oil pressure builds up with the pump spinning from the shaft. So if I pull the shaft the thing would be simi free spooling. I did this in the 80's. I had a Chevy ft 4x4 auto and it got 10 mpg. So when the gas shortage came we pull the front shaft since it did not have free wheeling hubs. I remember talking with you about installing a 1350 manual that would give me free wheel hub in theory because the transfer case would be uncoupled to the front diff when in 2 hi. I just got in from the park with the pugs it's raining in Vegas van runs great. Let me know if the generator gives you a problem. Allway check oil the safety switch prevents spark if low. You should pull the plug and the oil should be there, like a mini bike engine. There's a new plug I put last march every march I changed oil and plug. I shoot start fluid the compression of the industrial 10 Briggs is tuff. The carb has never been service so there might be varnished but it runs like a champ. I don't know how the governor works there's a butterfly on the side to tighten the plate for fast idle. I ran my Nj home in snow storms 5000 watt will run your ference fridge and lights. Don't back feed with a cheese extension it will get very hot. And throw your breaker or your going kill a line man working and power your neighbors and over load the generator. Van still work in progress as a Home Depot runner.
