AWD Front driveshaft removal.

The 96-01 5.0 explorer is 4500# not 6000
They don’t have hubs
You can drive the v8 without a front driveshaft as long as you would like
However it won’t stay parked on a hill it will creep
You are correct on the empty weight and spindle mounts. though that matters not at all to my point.

My Explorers have all been 2004-2010 vintage V8's

My point rema8ns, the engine is likely worn out though My Explorers have been down in the 12-13 mpg zone when it's 20 below here, mostly cuz I idle the engine a lot in my biz when it's that cold.
