I have a 1999 Explorer XLS,4.0L,6cy.I bought the truck without a front driveshaft for the 4 wheel drive.I was told there are 2 types of shafts for this model.Can anybody tell me which one to use.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Mike

they might be referring to the fact that some early explorer's had a double cardan front shaft.
you have the ball type CV front shaft. should be able to replace this with ANY 98+ second gen explorer 4.0 or SOHC that has 4WD.
