front end clunk noise

i have a 1998 eddie bauer 4.0 well i have a front end clunk kinda like a dead shock/strut sound when i go over bump on both sides of car that are not in-sink (bad spelling), i dont have to have my wheels turned they could be strait and still make the noise. it doesn't matter if its in 2 or 4 wheel drive. what do you think it could be?

Did you check your ball joints, tie-rods, loose control arm bushing yet?

sway bar bushing or end links might cause a noise too.

If that all doesnt check out start hitting **** with your fist, might find something loose or something bent

i know lower ball joints were done in 04, tie-rods wont move a bit but i will check the others

I broke a sway bar link last week. Heard a nice clunk and then the sound of the top of the link bouncing down the street. Anyway its a cheep fix to do both sides ~ $30 and there is a bit of a proformance upgrade by going to them. But dont waste your time by trying to unbolt them, Just cut them off. Took me almost an hour of dinking around trying to get one side undone before I just took a cutoff wheel to it. The other side took me 15 minutes start to finish.
