I need to replace the fuel injection seal adapters, my question is how do I remove the old adapters? I have a 2000 Explorer 4.0 SOHC.

Thanks
Pappy

I haven't done this on a SOHC, but usually the fuel rails are bolted down to the engine and the injectors have O-ring seals on the rail side and on the engine side. You simply unbolt the rails and pull the injectors out. IDK what you mean by an fuel injector seal adapter, unless you mean the O-ring.
The seal adapters go in the motor then the injectors go in the adapters.

Could you please show a picture?
Far as I know, the injectors, with o rings installed, plug directly into the lower intake manifold. The fuel rails then fit over the top o rings. Never heard of an adapter, but then I learn something every day.

The fuel injector fuel adapter fits in the cylinder head, made from brittle material something like bakerlite. The injector with 'O' ring fit inside the adapter.
When you remove the fuel injector some of the 6 adapters will probably break so get replacements.
This adapter is there to insulate injectors from the heat of the cylinder head.
Part number: F77Z9G512AA $30 on Amazon for 6 pieces.

Removal on my Sport Trac was easy, they are tight fit but do pull out with a bit of effort. There was no bonding agent used on mine.

then why are you replying...the amount of meaningless replys to peoples questions on these forums is absurd. if you dont know, you dont need to be heard.

I removed them by inserting a small pick and breaking them apart while a vacuum sucked up the pieces. they are soft plastic, easy to scrape out. careful not.yo scratch the aluminum head

Nice...you're only four yrs late in berating a well-respected, inactive member who was a huge contributor of valuable information on these vehicles.
