Fuel Reset light flashing / no start

HI guys. I have a problem. The 2000 sport will not start. It is definitely fuel related as I don't hear the whine from the pump and this was always a loud whine. I'm sure it isn't the pump, the car has been sitting for a while and the first time I turned the key the pump whined and it was nice and healthy.

It flashes FUEL RESET on the dash.. never seen that before on my 96 but my 2000 has it.

It started for a few seconds and shut off clearly from not getting fuel. on subsequent starts the pump didn't whine.. What could it be ?

The intertia swtich is down but there is some rust around there, could it be switch is not getting good contact, can I just hot wire it and by pass the switch to see if it starts.

Relays should be fine, I swapped them around and still the same problem

Fuses aren't blown

What else is left to the fuel system ?

You could temporarily jump across the shut off switch as a test.

I may have figured it out. I think I'm using the wrong key. There is chip in key system on this. without the right key the engine will disable. The problem is I can't find the original key and I'm using a copy from home depot that doesn't have a chip, it is fine for opening the door and cranking but I believe without the chip it will disable the fuel pump.

Can anyone confirm this ?
