Just as the title says. I was installing it yesterday and it went on nice and easy but when I took it for a drive, the first curve after the muffler hits on the axle and it is a problem. Has anyone installed this exhaust and had any problems like this? Any solutions?

I had a shop do mine but I know Ronin did is himself and didn't hear of any issues.

I don't see how it could be having clearance issues since it comes with the proper hangers.

Yeah I saw the same thing when I installed mine. I was doing it on a lift and didn't notice until I was done that that bend over the drivers side axle shaft was touching. Nothing is wrong with your kit...it's just harder to put those two sections together because of the bend...they have to be all the way together to clear the axle. I think what I ended up doing was taking those two sections out, removing the clamp, lubing up the joint with WD-40, and then putting it upright with 1 end resting on the ground. I then hammered the other end with a mallet...that got them together completely. Reinstalled the clamp and then put it back together with the rest and no more clearance issues.

The Gibson catback went on just fine in my Sport. You just have to clock the tailpipe the right way before tightening the clamps down and you should be fine.

thx for the info, i'll try hammering it down later.

Got it all put back together and it fits now. Hammered it in, and changed the angle, and it works like a charm. Thanks for your help guys.

How does it sound? I know I need a new muffler soon and I was thinking of Gibson. I don't want something that is loud but performs better then stock.
Thanks

I'm quite satisified with it. I also didn't want something that was loud and obnoxious, and saw that the gibson was about performance not noise, so that helped me decide. It is loudest (compared to stock) at about 2-3k rpm, after that is actually sounds quieter to me. when crusing at 1k-1.5k rpm, its just a little bit louder, but still very tolerable. I got about 1.5 to 2 mpg better aswell.

My catback used the Gibson 788500 muffler. I like it a lot...basically sounds like stock on steroids.

Here's a vid...short and not necessarily the best representation (camera picked up the mechanical noises of the engine) but it has a nice sound I think, with some cool popping noises when letting off the gas. Inside it's a noticeable difference than stock but not so loud that I'd have to raise my voice to be heard by another passenger.

Where can I find the best deal? Stainless or aluminum? Do they have a dual exit for an 04?

$240.00!!!

I went with aluminum because stainless can rust.

Climate can play a big factor rust. Both aluminum and stainless can rust. Check out Gibon's warranty They offer better warranty for the Stainless rather than the aluminized.

"This warranty does not cover corrosion, discoloration, internal rust, surface rust, or rust-through. STAINLESS STEEL PRODUCTS are warranted for rust-through."

Also see discussion on stainless-vs-aluminized-steel-exhaust-systems. It seems to indicate aluminized might be good choice for dry climates and stainless might be better choice for salt climates.

The hardware on my magnaflow is already pitting after 5 months but the pipes and muffler are fine. I thought everything was stainless but I guess not.. It's not like I need to take it apart for anything but still....

well, went on a 400mi camping trip with some friends, got to tow a boat with the X aswell. Very pleased with the exhaust, except for one thing - when im going about 45 and i floor it, it no longer downshifts, it just stays in the same gear and takes some time to get up and go. I think it can be fixed with a tune... :)
