i have a 97 ford explorer XLT 4dr. 4x4 mud rig and im planin a beach trip to the OBX in a few weeks and im gonna take the doors off. ive got all the doors taken care of besides the front driver-side door. in the space where the hinges are there is a black cylender connected to the door. i need to unplug all the wires drom their connectores so i can put my powered doors back on when i get back. i cant find the main connector from the body to the driver side door so im assuming that it is inside that little black box connected to the door. where is the main connector for the wires that run from the vehicle to the driver side door on a 4dr. 97 ford explorer XLT? if they are in that little black box, how the hell do i get it off there without using the brute force method?

there's a bolt on top of that black box, unscrew the bolt (its not going to come out) and the the cylinder black box will separate.

The bottom should come off when you have the bolt out. There might be tabs as well, but can't remember for sure.

i feel like a dumbass now. every time i had tried it before i unscrewed the bolt and expected the top to come off and when it didnt i just left it alone... looked at it a few days ago and pulled on the bottom and it came right out... but yeh man. my grabbers like to throw things and there spaced way out there so ima get sandblasted... i hate sand but ima deal cause how many other explorers can out-do jeeps offroad on a regular basis?

I just got back from obx. I hope its not as windy when you go. You will b sand blasted. The winds were so bad on the beach we ended up having to hang out on the sound side. And if you didnt know, its $50 for a week pass to drive on the beach. It used to be free. I was planning on taking my tacoma out one day, but wasnt going o pay that much. Have fun.

yeh. i heard but i have a few buddies with the rangers there so im hopen i can get away with it.

headin up to corolla today instead. nags head is not in the best shape right now
