I found a shop that will paint my Explorer for a good price and they do excellant work. He is also a Ford nut and he's friends with the guys at FLY-N-HI.

The next time you see my Exploder it should be Chevy Hugger Orange. Just like you see on the old Nomads and '57 Chevys. That will sure beat the Dark Forest Green that I have now. Half of the people who have seen it on the web think I have a black Explorer. The other half can't tell what color it is when it's sitting right in front of them!

The only downside is I'll be without my beast for another 3 weeks :( I just got used to having it back home :D

Man that should look pretty dang sweet! Gonna do the flares and rocker gaurds too? Bumper? That would look cool to me to see everything mostly the same color.

Rick you kill me. Just cause your the MAN around here doesnt mean that you have to keep pulling ahead of all us little people. Everytime I think someone is getting close to your truck you do something like solid axle, paint jobs. I say whats next? Guess I will have to start breaking the law to get the money to catch up with you! "Kids that last statement was completely a joke" I am just going to have to get another job or start playing the lotto. Maybe I shouldnt have bought this brand new truck, then maybe I could do it. Cant wait to see it! Are they going to let you take pictures of the paint assembly process?

Nah, I'm going to repaint the bumpers and nerf bars black. It will be a nice contrast against the orange.

Brian, this shop is pretty far from my house so I'll probably only stop by once a week to get in process photos. I'm pulling the bumpers, nerfs, inner door panels and anything else I can to help speed things up.

As far as going way out on my truck. It's easier when your wife supports your hobby! She enjoys the Explorer and fourwheeling as much as I do so I don't have to worry about spending money on our "toy".

Cant' wait to see it

Any graphics/striping/etc?

Well whats my excuse? I am not married and still cant seem to make things happen. No- That is great Rick. cant wait to see the bad boy. I might have to drive to arizona from dallas just to park the rides next to yours. I will trailor one of them just so they can both be parked next to the beast. ô¿ô

Brian, it helps when there are two incomes paying the regular bills! Not having any children doesn't hurt either.

Gerald, phase one is just a solid paint job. Phase two is adding flames to the hood and fenders!

BTW Brian, where are the photos of your Sport Trac??

I have some on regular film that I can develop and send to you. I am trying to wait and here from rob (gofast) He has some on his digital camera that can speed things up. That way I can at least have a photo to show everyone before I do the write up. I guess I will have to try and find a wife that is interested in my hobby (good luck brian). Your truck will be the first explorer to be on one of the magazine covers. Make sure you contact all the magazines before you scratch it all up so they can do a story on you.

I like how you say "our toy"

My wife loves hitting the trails but for some reason I just can't let it go from "mine" to "ours". I have this thing about her driveing it too. She doesn't. I will someday, when I get another. lol So what's next? His and hers tricked out Explorers?

Char doesn't like driving the Explorer off-road. She just likes to tackle the tough trails. I can't even get her to get out and take pictures! She says, "what good is taking pictures, then I can't do the obstacle"!

Mine would rather stay out. She say the further she can get from me the less of a chace there is for her to get out in the mud and put the tow rope on! Don't tell her this but I have her convinced that it is the co-pillots job to hook up the tow rope! hahah

Oh boy. Now we get a great big pumpkin showing up at the explorer runs..

first a purple people eater shows up, now this..

what's it all coming to?

The "Great Pumpkin" I like it! Especially since it will be done right before Halloween.

IS this orange going to be like the Traimaster Explorer, onbly without the transitions? I can't wait to see the "Great Pumpkin" , its going to be awesome.

I think Trailmasters had metallic in it this one won't.

Well, it'll still be cool. There is a newer style explorer that I see almost every day that is black but has the trim painted orange. Probably some Vols fans, but it looks really nice.

hey man...i thought that you were going to be visiting us "flatlanders" to get the paint job! (thats illinois for you not-so-flatlanders...) are you still going to come out here next summer and run attica with us? *pout* hehehe...only kidding!! Dead Link Removed

Paint colors

Hey Tdavis,
I can't help my dad has a body shop, besides You have to look different then everyone else. What, you want everyone showing up with a white Explorer????? LOL
At least I didn't go as crazy with this as I did the van.

Rick, you should at least go with a metalic color. It would shine so much better on the trails. At least people know it will be us coming down the road.....

Look forward to seeing the pictures. What happened with the cameo idea?????????

Hugger orange!!!!

Awsome color choice Rick!!

I had a CJ that color, and a AMC Javelin that was Big Bad orange- very very similar. Loved them both.

I had the CJ years ago and was never allowed to park it in my parents driveway because when the sun reflected off the vehicle, it would color the inside of the dining room in an orange glow - it was BRIGHT!!

Hugger Orange and blacked out trim my thoughts exactly- look forward to the pics.

Good Luck
