I understand the exhaust port and spark plug angle require a unique exhaust manifold. With all the aftermarket heads out there im sure someone has a set on an exploder. What are the options for exhaust when using a convential 302 head ??

The Gt40ps were a late addition in 96/97 I think. Could I use a set of stock 95 explorer V8 exhaust manifolds with the regular Windsor heads ??

I'm thinking a 10 to 1 306 with some Dart heads and a mild cam would be a great upgrade when the time comes..

The stock manifolds SUCK! You will need to call Bob at Torque Master and have a set of headers made with the head flange falnge to match which head you decide to use.

Even the GT40 heads have a different mounting flange than any Windsor head.

Yes
Bob had top build my headers custom to fit my edelbrock heads which are almost a windsor pattern. To avoid port intrusion, and hand header match porting which may cause leaks-you will need a custom flange depending on Cylinder head manufacturer.

Ok, guess ill be sticking with the stock heads for the time being.

Junkyard has the heads for 50 each, so I might grab a set and get going cleaning them up and some grinding on the exhaust side.

I also have a set of torque monsters made for my explorer that will be equipped with Trick Flow Heads. Bob from TMH referred to them as Ford flanges. So perhaps the Trick Flow heads are more like regular windsor style exhaust port location. Actually they are in transit as I write this.:p:
