So I’ve been running the primary and secondary cats feeding into a Y-Pipe then into a Flowmaster Super 40 then dump before the rear axle. I changed it up a few months ago and removed the muffler. NICEEEEE. So its real loud, it resonates inside the cab, drives the neighbors nuts but I cant get enough. Next up I plan to remove the secondary cats, add dual pipes and dump once again before the rear axle. My question is if there is any point to welding in an H pipe a few inches after the primary cats. I'm no fluid dynamics expert but without mufflers (resistance) I can see there being any noticeable difference in sound or performance. AWDROCKS truck sounds awesome.. That is the sound I am searching for (hence all the temporary setups). Anyhow if anyone knows what AWDROCKS exhaust setup looks like let me know (I don’t have a supercharger but I think I can get it close). Does anyone think us stock 5.0 guys can sound like AWDROCKS? Maybe new cam, TM....... Check out http://media.putfile.com/AWDROCKS-H-Pipe-88

I nut myself at 33 seconds then again at 54 seconds..

he has a H pipe with no cats, true duals, Flowmasters, then glasspacks. You'll need to get rid of the cats and get a big cam to sound like his.

true duals make the exhaust deeper?

more surface area for exhaust to escape= deeper.

Yeah and how much deeper would true duals make the SOHC engine sound

That does sound pretty sweet.

Lumpy idle

AWDROCKs truck is badass.

click on 4 wheel chirp link in my sig, it is my truck with true duals, and flowmaster 50 series, Torquemonster headers.

Dang.. Everytime I watch one of these videos I get sooooo excited.. Then reality sets in..... $$$$$ Dont get me wrong I would pay anything if it means I can work on my truck.. But hows a guy suppose to live........ Every one of these rides must have $10 000 dollars invested in it. The only justification I can come up with is that spending 15 000 to rebuild a motor, trans, etc etc is the fact that it would be a cheap "new" vehicle.. But by the time I get to that stage the body will have completely rusted away (salt and sand 7 months of the year). Whats a guy to do!!!

If it helps true duals without a muffler will sound way nice you won't have as nice of a rumble as AWDROCKS but it will still sound great and loud.

i jus lack 2 cylinders sigh o well

Alrighty... Removed Secondary cats today and added two 30" sections of 2.25" pipe with turndowns (no H-pipe). As Borat would say " Vaarrry Niiiiiice". In addition my seat of the pants torque'o'meter say waa waa wee waa (even with the floor mat under the gas pedal). I think after 255,000 km the secondary cats were so plugged up I was loosing major power. I couldn’t get a good feel tonight because it is freezing rain an every time I hit the gas I  :yelexp:  :yelexp:  :yelexp:  Good times. We'll try again tomorrow. Oh and low end torque loss was not as bad as i thought. Infact I would go as far as to say that there was net gain.

Getting rid of the secondary cats on my '98 made huge difference in the power and throttle response on my X. My cats must have been pretty well clogged too. It take a lot less pedal to cruise at 75-80 MPH now as well.

What mufflers is everyone using?
I know my parents got a new cat back exhaust on my ex before they gave it to me. I know the cats are getting old, with 90k on the truck.
I might plan on removing the cats in the spring and sticking a flowmaster under it.

Im running a Y pipe from the headers into a single 2.5" IMCO EXTREME muffler and its dumped. Most people get rid of the secondary cats and leave the primaries on with a lot of miles. Maybe get rid of the secondary and replace the primary with high flos?

Ok.. so driving with straight pipes is like letting the cops know 3 blocks in advance to get ready cause in 5 minutes a big mother truck is going to pass by. Plus it was, dare I say it, too loud inside the cab. I mean after a week I think every neighbor was about to kill me. So I poped on two 23" Cherry Bombs (glasspacks) available at CT for $34 bucks each. They worked wonders!! Eliminated the high freq raspyness and left me with a nice rumble. After a 4 hour drive my ears are ringing the same as if I had just been to a rock concert... It resonates but in a nice way. All in all this in my opinion is the best bang for the buck. I thought about adding another Flowmaster Super40 but at $140cdn they are just too darn expensive (ie the difference in tone isnt worth the extra $106 plus the trouble of fitting them so they dont get ripped off on the first rock I pass over). In the end I'v spent $64 for two 2.25" Cherry Bombs, $16 for two 18" 2.25" sections of tube, $16 for two 2.25" turn downs. Total cost <$100.
