i bought philips bulbs (xtreme power i think) and they were a huge difference between older bulbs they were much brighter, give them a try. stay away from hids in your stock healight housing

Thanks I need to try something tx

I put HID's in and HATE them too... Keep us posted as to what you found

why not shell out $50(+/-) for some new housings? they are easy to install and aim. well worth the small investment. then get some brighter bulbs to shine through the new clear lenses. i got a pair from ebay for around $40ish shipped. good luck

Why not? Because she said that they're not clouded up? :dunno:

i would invest in some nice fog lights. the good ones can shine a lot farther than stock headlights. and u can adjust them to shine where ur headlights dont shine. i am about to install some on mine here soon to help brighten my path. it can be a little extra work with the mounting and wiring but in the end it will be worth seeing the rest of the road at night. i found mine at harbor freight and i am excited to see how well they do. i think i only paid around $10 for them and they came with all the wiring and mounting. i know some people might think im cheapin out at harbor freight but i like harbor freight and for the price of $10 i am not complaining.

I drive a 2009 Chev for a work truck and a 2000 Mountaineer as my personal ride. The new Chevs do have great headlights. Wish mine were that good. I understand your suffering...

buy some 6000k hids from amazon for $40 they are verry bright and easy to install

Any HID kit without a projector is a waist of money and the light beam would be very distorted

My 01 Sport (same front end) lights up the road great, better than my cousins lincoln with HIDs and my neighbors Lexus (driven both) , I think there might be something wrong with your bulbs or wiring because my low beams light up as much as most cars high beams ?
There might be newer trucks with better but I see no need so long as your lights are working correctly (and aimed correctly)and i live 45 miles out of the city out in the boonies!

i second this guy, i install 6000k hids the light output was ok but the light scatter made the light output not worth it not to mention the scattered light that shined up and blinded oncoming traffic. the beam that went forward was not good at all a lot of spots not lit up. for those who say just aim them down that just a joke and pointless for even buying hids then.

the philips xtremes say the give up to 80 percent more light output and they are not high wattage either

I tried both; Sylvania SilverStar and Philips Xtremes

They are semilar in many ways, but The SilverStar is more brighter and whiter than the Xtremes

first of all i have hids in my headlights and fog lights and they work great my "light beam" is perfect and 100% better than any autozone sylvania. im pretty sure she doesn't wanna go out and drop $400 on aftermarket projecter headlights im giving her a cheaper easy way to get brighter headlights

You have a 97 thats a completely different headlight trust me hids are not worth it in our headlight design

If your fog lights shine "farther" than your low beams, they're aimed wrong.

For only $40 you can piss every oncoming car off with your scattered light. You can't do HID without spending some money.

I run the Sylvania SilverStar® ULTRA's. I love them. A huge improvement over stock. I think they have incredible bang for the buck!!
