Hate my headlights!

im pretty sure she doesn't wanna go out and drop $400 on aftermarket projecter headlights im giving her a cheaper easy way to get brighter headlights

shop around, i spent a total of maybe $150 (projectors, bulbs, wire harness) for my retro. morimoto mini h1, purchased from ebay at a fraction of cost. if you can find them there, give them your best offer and maybe get them cheaper.

OR...

upgrade your stock wire harness. see project below

I have used Sylvania Silverstars in several vehicles and like them. Bulbs do get dimmer over time even if they don't burn out. Consumer Reports tested headlights a while back and rated Phillips Knighthawks slightly better than Silverstars but I've never tried them and no one where I live sells them.

Any HID kit without a projector is a waist of money and the light beam would be very distorted

Agreed.

I've got the H1 version of the retro kit. Very happy with it.

Thanks for all the advise have allot to consider thanks

Get the Silver Stars, and check to see if they are available for your fog lights. My 99 Eddie Bauer takes H1 on the fogs. You will have a wall of light. Great in the rain. You won't be sorry. Check the Sylvania web site for discounts or rebates

i used to have a 91 ranger and the head lights sucked until i found some 9k headlights on ebay for a good price. they were definitely a lot brighter than the stock bulbs. check ebay. u can find some good deals with returns accepted if ur not satisfied.

:nono:

beating a dead horse, but hid's in stock housings is not the way to go, and even if you do go with hid's, i would never go over 6k. the higher you go, the more blue it gets and you lose more usable light. hid's in stock housings creates an annoying glare for other traffic as well as shoots unfocused beam pattern and scatters the light all over the place. just my 2 cents

"stay thirsty my friends"

You can never beat that horse too many times.

+1

I agree about the Silverstars. I just went to those from my stock bulbs last weekend and noticed a huge improvement. Stock lights were way too dim. Low beams even with fogs got to the point where they seemed almost unsafe. Silverstars are pretty cheap too (which is a plus for me being a college student)

As much as I used to like Silverstar (better than stock bulbs), when I went away from HID for a few days (about 2 years ago), I felt blind at night with just Silverstars.

They're good bulbs, but once your eyes get used to a good HID conversion, you get pretty spoiled.

I just purchased this 05 trac 4x4 about 3 weeks ago from the dealer only 38k miles on it, paid 15k and its in mint condition with T cover and bed bar.

Does anyone know where to purchase a decent cheap 6k bi hid kit from. Also where can I purchase the projectors that will fit on my 05 trac? I've searched all over the net and found to many confusing things when it came to choices and stumbled onto this site so decided to register to get some help.

Also any decent lights for the fogs as well?

same projectors i used, very easy to install. youll need to buy the harness from theretrofitsource.com. search the site, i sorta have a diy on it too.

Why not just buy a bulb with something higher than 6k if you're worried about your lights not being bright enough?

cause anything higher than a 6k wont be bright at all...higher kelvins doesnt mean brighter, the higher you go, the blue-er it gets as stated above...see above

Precisely.

OEM HIDs on high end vehicles are 4300K for a reason. Too many people don't understand that that the more "colourful" the light is (higher K), the more glare it creates and the less useful light. I've been using HID for years in assorted ways and never go higher than 4300K. What's the point? My lights are whiter than any halogen setup and MUCH brighter.

 can i geta Amen?
