i just had a friend give me a 92 explorer with a blown head gasket. i've replaced head gakets before but they were always in older trucks from the 70's... so i'm just wondering how much harder it would be to do one a 92 then the older trucks

It's a pushrod V-6, the cam is in the block, etc... you should feel right at home if you have done a head gasket on a classic V motor. I have heard the pushrods and rocker arms tend to wear prematurely, you may want to replace those while you are there. The intake is two parts, upper and lower, it will be fairly clear when you get to that point. The lower intake gasket has been problematic, you should buy a Ford brand gasket and read up on torques and sequences.

I'm sure others will have more specific thoughts. Best of Luck!
