Help: 2nd gen updates to newer/3rd/4th gen JY finds?

I've got a '96 explorer that is starting to show her age a little bit. I want to bring some new life in, but not break the bank. Mostly cosmetic, as the 5.0 is still kicking strong and I see no need for any updates right now.

I'm curious at if there are things that are fairly easy to transfer from new generations or even newer years of the 2nd generation. Thinking of doing a JY dive. Thoughts/suggestions on pulling some of the below to update the look:
Front Grill - change from '96 to newer 2nd gen
Front Headlights ?
Brake Lights - change from '96 to newer 2nd gen
Rims/Wheels - Thinking Limited/Sport Trac - change from 2nd gen to 3rd/4th
etc

Not sure how I want to approach it yet, but open for ideas or suggestions.

The grill is the same across the second gen ex's, unless it's a limited grill.
Headlights are the same.

Brake lights, the new ones won't fit a 96 without a new trunk.. I learned the hard way..

Rims will even fit off a jeep if you want to go that route.

Thanks for the info and the picture. I had read some threads that said it wasn't a great fit with the newer tail lights - but never saw a picture so that helps a lot.

Up to 2001 exterior and interior bits & trim are a direct fit.

I like this exterior package:

front bumper is a major improvement
