Help! 99 Rear Hatch on a 97 Mountaineer

For those of you that have done this mod, would the rear hatch from a '99 fit onto a '97 without modification, and not have any gaps? Also will the '99 tail lights fit in the '97 tail light space without modification or gaps?

I think you can do it as long as you swap the hatch and taillights together. I'm not sure if the hatch profile at the D-pillar is the same or not though.
