Hello. New here....no nothing about cars except how bad it feels when Ur car wont start. Im gonna post a ?..... but bare with me, Im clueless. I'm a nurse and as far as cars go.......I can put my donut on if I had a flat...that's it. Lol ne way, I hit a icy road, spun my explorer around and over a ditch and landed on the drivers side in a corn field. As soon as we stopped i shut my truck off......not sure if it stalled out first or not. The damage to me doesn't look that bad......yes bad but considering the 20 mph I was going....the ice and the ditch....not that bad. Towed it in.....it won't start. It's not getting compression to the back twocyclinders. Please bear with me....I know nothing about cars. They said the other 4 are fine. Confused on how a car with no front end damage is a total loss. Any suggestions?

yikes good thing your not injured anyways welcome to the forum

Thank u.....I had my 4 kids with me too. We all were safe. Thankfully.

Don't know how much I believe no compression in the 2 rear cylinders. Even with 2 bad cyls it should try to run if not very badly. Did anyone reset the fuel cut off switch? I believe in the 02 it should be in the pass side kick panel. If that trips it cuts off power to the fuel system and then no start. It will crank all day. It's designed to cut off the fuel in the event of an accident. Check that out, let us know.

Did you try reseting the full cutoff switch ?

Thanks for those post. I did ask about that since years ago I had that happen with my mustang. They said that's not the issue. I just can't believe it won't start. The Windows still roll down...lol. I landed on my drivers side....doors still open Windows go down. Strange. I think its gotta be something stupid that we are overlooking. It's back to the dealer and there guys are running test today...hopefully will know something soon. Thanks everyone.

The only thing that I can think of which would cause two cylinders to lose compression after a roll over is if the cylinders had filled with oil, and you bent connecting rods from a hydro lock... That could keep the pistons from reaching TDC, therefore not creating compression. I consider that highly unlikely though.

I would double check the fuel system cutoff switch. Pull back your carpet where the transmission hump meets the firewall. There is a switch there which looks kind of like a relay. Press the button on the switch to reset.

Something to think about.. any amount of G forces that would do damage to an engine, would be extremely lethal to any occupants of the same vehicle. i've rolled vehicles numerous times, smashed into things, (offroading) and no engine issues. anyway my point being, there is no possible way the engine is damaged in that manner. i suggest you try another mechanic.

oh, and +1 on inertia switch

one other thing.. to be sure we are clear here... the engine cranks over when you turn the key, it just doesn't fire, is that right?
