Alright. If it turns over, that rules out a main electrical or starter problem. That pretty much leaves fuel and spark. It's most likely a fuel problem. Do you hear your fuel pump pressurize when you turn the key to "on"? If not, either your fuel pump or fuel pump relay went bad. Let's start with that ;)

That might be oversimplifying the situation,

There are many things that can cause your proble,. I had a similar situation a year ago that turned out to be am O2 sensor. The thread at Dead Link Removed explains my situation.

Hope this helps ya....

Ok my problem that I posted was last night. I got up good and early this morning anticipating the remainder of my Labor Day weekend being spent in and around the engine of my truck.
I went outside put the key in and she turned over and started like nothing was ever wrong.??!!??!!??
I'm not the type to say "If it ain't broke don't fix it" .....
I'm sure this will happen again....Where should I look first?? I had it scanned and the scanner said bad EGR sensor/valve. Does this have anything to do with starting?
CMON !!!! Help me out!!!
Thanks for your help to those of you who responded...

What were the weather conditions when you parked it and it wouldn't start?? If it was hot and muggy, and you had run the truck for a while, it could have been vapor lock.

When you turned the motor over, did it seem like it was trying to start, or did it just crank. If it seemed like it was trying to start and wouldn't catch, it could be a dirty IAC valve. There have been TSB's on that. If it was just turning over without even trying to start, vapor lock comes to mind, since it starts fine now.

Well it was cool and damp...mid 60's with a misty type of rain....Vapor Lock? How do I avoid vapor locks?
What is IAC? And is it replaceable/fixable?

Vapor lock occurs when the fuel temperature in the fuel line is great enough that it vaporizes the fuel. The fuel pump can't push gases, so no fuel flows to the motor. After thinking about it a little more, it would be unlikely on the X since the fuel pump is in the tank. (I'm old school, used to carbureted vehicles :D)

The IAC is the Idle Air Control Valve. It sits on the intake manifold and controls how much air flows at idle. They are cleanable and replaceable.

thanks for the info....heading out to search for the IAC and see if that helps out....Does the EGR valve effect any of this?
I'm putting off doing this for some strange reason!!!
Doesn't seem to difficult...Just waiting for that CEL to become annoying enough!!
Anything else I should look for while I'm under the hood that might eleviate this "no start" problem?

I've been chasing this problem for a couple of months now. After some advice from this board, I replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Check out this thread. (Note that I did not confirm that this was the problem!)

Dead Link Removed

Evidently, there are several items that can cause these symptoms.

Good luck with your problem, and let us know what you find.
