I know I should just get 35s... but I'm being lame and going from 31s to 33s. I have a nice new set of Cragar 15x8s ready to rock.

I'm going to be using this truck offroad, but also in the snow and for towing. Maybe 7,500 miles/year.

I want to spend less than $650 for the set, which narrows it down to:

Choices are:
BFG A/Ts: I have them now and love them.

Procomp A/T:

Maxxis Bighorns: http://www.maxxis.com/products/automotive/product_detail.asp?id=5477

Maxxis Buckshot:

I'm quite partial to my Kuhmo's :D . I've also run the BFG A/T's and the BFG M/T's and I prefer the Kuhmo's

That makes me happy because I'm ordering a set of those in a few days...

What about Cooper Discoverer STT or Cooper Discoverer ST

The STT is very, very similar to the Toyo M/T, I have 15k on mine, they are holding up well, I expect to get 25-30 thousand out of them, pretty good for M/T's mostly street driven with a locker.

Those STTs look pretty nice... good suggestion  although that's one more to choose from...

Any comments on the STT's snow/ice ability?

the shop i work at has run the bighorns on 2 suv's and both owners have said that they are incredible both on and offroad.

Bump...

I'm also considering the Interco Truxus M/T. Same price range, but claims to be the "best M/T in the snow"

what about the tsl thornbirds.. dont know much about them but they are an awesome looking tire...

Thornbirds do look good, but they're more expensive than the other tires and I hear lots of bad things about them.

I think I've narrowed it down to

1) Maxxis Bighorn... Snow/Ice worries me

2) Interco Trxus MT... Balancing worries me

Which would you get?

i like the lugs on the outside of the tire better on the trxus mt.. if balance worries you just get a wider tire.. 33x13/14 something like that... but the meat on the trxus looks better (it has diffrent sized lugs around the edge, which is better traction off road) and more durable...

that doesnt look like it will do so well in cleaning it self off it looks like itll turn into a slick once in the mudd

I'm still partial to the BFG A/T they are the best tire I've ever had on the snow/ice here in Colorado.

i have never heard anything good about procomp anything.. tho i dont know from experience

They have a 50,000 mile treadlife warranty, and I'm able to get a set for $500, new. The guys on Pirate have really bad things to say about them too.

However, I'd rather spend the extra $130 and get MTs, which brings me back to the TrXus MTs or the Bighorn MTs.

ya i would highly recommend not going anything pro comp.. ever... just from the stuff ive heard, the trxus mt arent bad i dont think... go for those.. they have, like i said before, a nice lug pattern

I have Maxxis Bighorns and love them. They are a little loud on the highway. But its a mud tire so thats to be expected. They preform great off road and in the snow. Here is my Bighorns in the snow with 35psi still in them. I didnt air down the whole trip.
