i personally havent made anything for my truck, but there are members who have made their own roof racks, bumpers, winch mounts, spare tire carriers, and all kinds of custom stuff. im sure youll get plenty of responses to this thread, but try a search, youll probably get a ton of results.

I've got a couple of homemade things on my truck, but they aren't very useful, just for looks. Click on "Custom Lights" in my signature line if you would like to see. Could have used an aluminum welder for the one in the bumper.

:)hey man just for a note it sounds cooler saying "custom" well anyway i built my ,roof rack, rear susp, steering stabilizer, body mounts that allow the body to move away from the frame at flex, and swaybar quick disconnects and some more

Custom interior...light control center...skidplate...
front bumper spacers(post-2"BL)...soon to come diamond tread headliner...Man you could do some SERIOUS stuff with a good welding outfit, wish I had one...

i built a roof rack and a basket to fit in the rear receiver and a bike rack for that too. the bike rack was too heavy so i ditched it finally. took the roof rack off b/c i want some better mounting solution. i just had it ubolt-ed to the factory rack. thinking about buying a mount kit for some other rack and modifying it. working on a custom winch mount right now, but its going slow. seems i got lazy.

I have custom front and rear bumpers, superlift bracket braces, radius arm mounts, transmission crossmember mounts, b&m light truck megashifter brakets, gas can holders, spare tire holder, front shock mounts, high-lift jack holder, Exaust I think thats it but basically every bolt-on addition to my explorer has something custom about it. Alot of people have more custom stuff then I do. Robbie

do any of you have plans for some of this stuff?

i don't have anything for the stuff i have already built. i am going to make plans for the winch mount if i ever finish a prototype. i'm thinking of making a new roof rack and receiver basket with aluminum and powdercoating them here at work. still working on new mounts for the roof rack i did make. i'll rig up some plans if i rebuild the stuff.

I am thinking aobut making skidplates for my rear shock mounts... shouldn't be to hard.

Do a search on skidplates for the rear shocks. Gerald (Brain of Chipmunk) Jarrett made some already - I believe there is a write up somewhere on the site...

yes there is a thing on the site but its to buy them for 125

I recently built a custom front skid plate. Go to this thread for plans and pics.

hows that coming along cameron?

Slow. I’m hoping to have a “prototype” by next Sunday. I’ll let everyone know when I get one built. The key is I want it to be easy for the average Joe to install.

Custom stuff I have built myself for my explorer:

front and rear receiver hitches
roof rack with mounts for lights, hi lift axe and shovel
rock sliders
front sway bar disconnects
and other smaller stuff
