HI , Has anybody got info on how much weight i could load into my 1997 explorer.
In the uk we have a restriction of 7.6 foot on trailer width and if my ex will hold 1 kg over 3500kg then i can go to a width of 8 foot.
I want to buy an american trailer for holidays here in the uk,but because of our silly laws over here i would need a 7.5 tonn truck to pull it,unless my vehicle can carry a load of 3501kg, solo.
thanks
michael :uk:

well 3501 KG = 7718 LBS.

The SOHV 97 Explorer is rated to tow 5000 LBS, so you are over the towing capacity.

Great....Thanks...so what do i need,will a F150 do the job?

well the new F-150 can tow 15,000 pounds so yes that would do the trick! However the old F-150 doesnt tow much more than the Explorer...

My BII is rated at 5000# stock, but I have done several things to increase that amount...I reguallary tow a 4000# boat with it.
