I got a VIN # a couple weeks ago and found our window sticker. After deciphering it, our build date is TODAY!!!! :D So, I am just curious, how long does it actually take to build an EX?

Also, since we will be picking it up at a dealer in another state and doing a road trip before barging her home, can I sign up for Sync prior to taking possession of the vehicle before we leave home?

Thanks for any help given! Sorry if these are repeat questions, I did search on the build time but couldn't find anything.

I will PM the Crystal/Cory/Ashley asking about a dealer ETA in a few days.

Congrats on the building of your new Explorer, jrc9614! :biggthump

You'll be able to set up your SYNC account after the factory programs the SYNC module in the vehicle and updates our systems, which is generally one of the last things they do. If you'd like to familiarize yourself with the system, check this out, and of course let me know if you have any questions:

http://support.ford.com/topics/sync-technology

I'm not sure which SYNC system you will have, but you can choose SYNC with MyFord or SYNC with MyFord Touch from the link above.

Thanks, Rebecca!

We have an XLT with the 202A package so we will have my Ford Touch.

Thanks for the great info. I will sign up/register with Sync a week or so before we leave home. That will work out great!

Thanks for the link! I will check out the info. I have looked at some things already but I like to do my homework so I will be familiar with things right off the bat. I am the "techie" in the family.;)

Thanks, Riley! Amazing they can build it so quickly.

You're welcome! If you have a smart phone, look for the MyFord Touch Guide in the App Store. Then you can get a feel for MFT. :)

...I will PM the Crystal/Cory/Ashley asking about a dealer ETA in a few days.
I checked on your Explorer and found good news, jrc9614: I see that it rolled off the line and is awaiting shipment! The ETA is 8/4/2013, but that’s still subject to change.

Thanks so much, Cory! That is indeed great news! Our trip plans put us at the Dealer the week of 8/19...so looks like it will arrive before us (with a little leeway even!) and be available for our trip. Once it actually arrives at the Dealer we can cancel our "just in case" rental car reservation!:D

According to my window sticker mine is scheduled to be built today. (7/10). Then its only a matter of Cory or Rebecca driving it over to my house after that. Alternatively, to the dealer in a few weeks. I believe August 4 was my ETA also.

Road trip! LOL ;)

How did you decipher the build date?

Thanks so much, Cory!...
You got it, jrc9614!

jetpilot747,

I really doubt that’s going to happen. LOL

The codes on the window sticker are for the factory and can change along the way, Purp1eOne. My tracker shows your Explorer is scheduled to roll off the line next week. Drop me a line via PM for me to check on it. :)

Its a tough sell to get someone to drive Phoenix this time of year! :fire:

When I got here it was 122F last week.

Ha ha, I know, cold spell eh. I made the huge mistake of taking last week off work to burn some vacation, couldn't believe how hot it got. I live just North up in Anthem, its about .005 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Flagstaff is pretty nice however.

Thanks, Riley! Amazing they can build it so quickly.

Ford has a bit of experience with mass production ;)

My dealer called today with an ETA of August 3rd is that what you have?

Purp1eOne,

The current ETA hasn’t updated since the original scheduling of the vehicle and isn’t very reliable (and always subject to change). The ETA to the dealer usually updates once shipping starts. Your Explorer will be rolling off the line any day now. I’m sure you’re excited! :D:thumbsup:
