How to: 3rd Gen BODY LIFT. Install.

Glad to hear it's going well, I'd be careful with a "very stressed" brake line though...
I think maybe our next modification should be checking on some longer braided lines...

I'd have him do it, you've gotta make sure to get all the air out and such before trying to drive.

That's exactly what mine looks like.

Apart from your steerig shaft being on the wrong side, it all looks good. Well done chris. I'm in the middle of making up some 6mm spacers for the rear of mine just so it sits higher at the back again (and the extra 1/4" won't hurt), and I reckon it's going to take me another 3 to 4 hours, so 11 hours for what you've done is pretty good. You can't use RB's times as an indication; he's a bit handy with the tools and the rest of us are just trying to catch up, lol.

wrong side, you mean yours is on the left thats awesome!!!!

it will proly take me another 2-3 hours i bet, i want to make sure everything is secure and tight and make sure i didnt break or tear anything, maybe its because im just a worry wart or just smart i dont know:D

My steering shaft is on the right, therefore yours must be on the wrong, lol. With what you're undertaking, a bit of worry and double checking everything is well worth doing (I'd call that smart).

I severely underestimated my time. I started at around 12.30pm this arvo and it's now 1.00am. I have had 2 breaks - one to go and get some 1/4" steel (I only had enough to do one), and one for dinner, so about 90 mins max. I am slow! My only excuse is I also fitted a set of mud flaps, but had to trim them up a bit so they didn't look totally crap; end result is they look crap, but not toally.

Will fire some pics up of the 1/4" spacer etc at some stage.

RB - just a thought; with your truck having 3" spring lift and 3" body lift, would adding spacers to the back of yours give you grief in the axle through chassis area? Mine's pretty close with only the small lift I have - yours must nearly touch.

Yup, it sure close, but i'm going to be lowering that hoop, it had to be fixed anyway for the next 5" this winter. ;)

Hey jcuz I might have missed some of this but what are you making? spacers for lifting like RB?

oh i saw a pic somewhere, i thought it was yours and it looked different than minw huh now im confused:rolleyes:

Chris you prol saw a pic of mine, it was different for some reason. But no worries if it's like RB.

Yeh, but only one plate (like the top plate on RBs spacers). i just needed a little one to even up the truck.

wait a minute, since i got a true full hieght suspension 3 in and a full 3inch body, does that mean IM THE TALLEST 3RD GEN X HERE!!! (though i shouldnt brag to much because without all you guys id still be stock , so pretty much ill credit all you guys with my mods:thumbsup:)

so RB if you go taller are you going to get bigger tires? cause ill take the ones you got LOL:D;)

Haha.. yeah, I'm going to be using the ones I've got now as my "smaller winter tires"
I'm going bigger in the spring.
Not sure yet, maybe 37's.

your one crazy dude Ben, i think when the tires i got now were out (hopefully in a year or two, lol i just got em though) ill proly go get mud countrys:thumbsup:

I'd recommend them for sure.
I'm really looking forward to being able to air them down while on the rocks too, as with my new ARB air locker I'm ordering the larger compressor, it'll inflate 4 35" tires in 10 minutes.

This is a pic of an Irok 36" tire next to my ex.
Ignore the hummer rims, I'd never go that big, I'll stick with my 16's and enjoy the extra rubber.

I would not like to risk not completing the lift properly. But this is not the intended use of this apllication could-would an off road shop do this lift for me and what would be the hours for a pro and the cost
