HAHAHA, I'm a computer tech. ;)

Wow - I would not have guessed that. I am in IT as well (who isn't these days?). I was a Business Analyst with a bit of cool:gen reading/writing ability and pretty good SQL/QMF skills, but am now Project Managing Software development projects; so welding stuff, and modifying cars and the kids toys is about as hands on as I get these days. I enjoy it (both work and play - one pays for the other)

So I just found a guy selling a body lift kit used for 50 bucks, he states everything is included, i asked him for pictures. Sounds like a deal i cant pass up considering all the lift is going to cost me is the parts, the friend of mine is going to re-roof his house next year so he'll help me and ill help him;):D:D:D

I have read through this thread for about an hour now, copying and pasting installation info and tips to a word document.(to help my friend and me with the installation)

I have just a few more questions

1. Full line extension? need to add?
2. Ground straps ok? Shift cable bracket need it or not?
3. How to easly remove the mounts with that plate that spins? in other words what is the best tool that would work?
4. Any tricks or tips that you might like to share with me?:D
5. Do i use the directions for the Ranger?
6. Were (the jack spot), what did you use to lift the X?

I bought the 883 kit from someone off craigslist for 50 bucks, it was used on a ranger for 4 months, in the pics the kit looks almost new with all pieces. The buddy of mine wants me to get all the info and everything so he can study it and understand the process before we do it, thats why i have all the questions. thanks in advance Guys!!!!:salute:

1. Easy to install, but I didn't bother
2. yes, ground straps are good, no bracket needed.
3.

Though a couple I couldn't get a grip on, I just welded a pry bar on to the bottom plate and ground it off after.
4. Don't disconnect both sides at once, leave one side on loosely as you're jacking the other.
5. Some parts apply
6. I used a block of wood, and lifted with a jack about half way down, just inside the frame, on the floor of the X.

Hope some of that helps

Cheers

Ben

It's just one piece.. that aluminum one in the center of the picture.

This is not really bpdy lift related; it has more to with using longer shocks in an overall lift package. Has anyone tried using pin to eye adaptors with double-eye shocks to suit the explorer?
ie One of these:

I don't really think those would work, but I have started using the plates from my spacers, and a couple of shock tabs to make an adapter to fit king shocks, and the like to our rigs.

Just need to solve the lower connection now.

I don't have any pics, but just remember you're raising everything 3", so the bottom half of the shroud, at the center, measure down 3", then follow the same arc that's already there, and feather it to nothing half way up the side.

If that was all Greek I apologize. LOL

ok i got the kit so here is whats missing from it, do i need anything that is missing for the install

1 Extension, fuel filler (1 1/2” x 5”)
1 Extension, fuel filler vent (3/8” x 3”)
2 Clamp, hose (#10)
2 Clamp, hose (#28)
1 Hose, rubber (3/4” x 6”)
4 Spacer, bed support (2” x 3” x 1” steel)
2 Bracket, ground (“L”)-

When i install the kit do i follow the directions for the ranger, for example disconecting the trans lines brackets, ground straps, and wire looms in the engine?

and do i raise the radiator also?

sorry for all the questions, but i know you guys dont mind too much;)

Thanks
Chris

Hey Chris, you dont need any of those parts you listed.
Dont follow the directions for the Ranger, follow what RB posted. I promise that most of it will just start making sense as you do it. No trans line brackets, ground staps or wirelooms.
The radiator will not move, however remove the bottom half of the fan shroud before you lift it. Then you can trim it down 3 inches to reinstall after the lift is done.
Just to give you an idea of what it might take an amatuer, I spent about 12 hours split between Saturday and Sunday to complete the job. It would have been easier probably if I would have had air power though.

No mechanical or steering differences. I love it after the lift, nice and beefy how I like them. Yours will be a beast with the BL and RB lift. You been pricing 285's? You're gonna need them with all that lift.
