I have a 2001 Explorer and I can't seem to find the correct headlight switch. mine has a narrow dimmer wheel and all of the ones that was shown had a wide dimmer wheel and also looked like that it would fit a later model. I haven't taken it out because I'm unable to take it out. My mechanic is a friend of mine and lot of times I'll buy the parts and he'll put them on, but maybe not this time. I'm sure he probably wouldn't know because he's a Bowtie guy. I've been to all the major stores, NAPA and some independent parts stores and a large parts warehouse and all I've seen had the wide dimmer wheel and looks like they would fit from the front of the dash. Mine fits and goes behind the dash. So I am really bumfuzzled on this issue. Do any of you what I have to do to get the right one? Thanks! 🥺🤓

The headlight switch and separate light dimmer switch. That is mounted from behind the panel is what my 98 has.

Go to to Rock auto.com and research headlight switches for 2001 and earlier explorers.

The headlight switch turns the headlights on and off
The dimmer switch is completely different

I see your issue though, Rockauto has it all jacked up
When you click on dimmer switch they try to sell you the multifunction switch?? Stupid!!

I found it on ebay, the Ford part number is F77Z11691AA

They usually call this a rheostat or instrument panel dimmer switch
here it is on Rockauto even though it is not found under a 98 Explorer it is same part

Ebay

Amazon

For $75 I would go to a junk yard or send me a PM I have several 96-01 Explorers for parts I can get you a good working dimmer switch cheap
