any word yet ? engine toast or what ...

Oh oh no news is bad news.

my father said when he tried turning the truck on with my brother in law it turned on but they said it started shooting out all the antifreeze

This in my experience indicates a blown head gasket and/or a cracked block.

Early in the thread the OP stated that they heard the fuel pump run, so it is PROBABLY not a lack of fuel problem.

I just bought an explorer a couple hours ago that seems to have the same problem as yours does. Mine will start and run if you play with the throttle a little bit while starting.

sorry bout not replying guys i just been so into work so i can get the X fixed its been sitting in my garage for couple weeks. the fuel pump was not a problem it was squirting out like you guys said it would. i am not able to try to start it at the moment because if i do the transmission fluid wil leak cus i had removed the radiator. aparently it just might be the heads. my brother in law said it was blowing smoke out the tail pipe the last time they got it to turn on but shut off afterwards. and the coolant was coming out of the radiator. one guy i work with says he'll do the job for $950 total anyone think i should go for it he's putting in a different motor.

Head gasket

aparently it just might be the heads. my brother in law said it was blowing smoke out the tail pipe the last time they got it to turn on but shut off afterwards. and the coolant was coming out of the radiator. one guy i work with says he'll do the job for $950 total anyone think i should go for it he's putting in a different motor.

Let's see: Engine runs out of coolant (or perhaps, water pump/radiator is bad), engine overheats, then blows smoke out the tail pipe, coolant coming out of radiator. Now won't start at all. You also mentioned the coolant looked like "tea" (i.e., oil is in the coolant). That surely sounds like a blown head gasket. It won't start as it has lost too much compression. Even if it had enough compression to run you wouldn't want to drive it like that.

If you're lucky that may be all it needs, but you may need to have the heads serviced too...and of course, address whatever caused the overheating in the first place before you drive it. $950 seems reasonable for the repair work but are you saying he's replacing the entire motor for $950?

I had 2 motors in 2 years replaced due to a faulty water pump:banghead: . Wish I had found this forum after the first motor went out.

yep 950 new motor put in 450 for the motor and the rest labor but im pretty sure he would have to look for another motor cus its been a couple weeks since i last spoke with him about it someone maybe already took it
