Pretty much what he said... there is a point of personal opinion, and open flat out bashing! There is also a difference between open and close mindedness... sure ya can bash cops, as I have, but if there is lil to no respect shown fer the good cops, the it makes sense as to why posts may have been deleted...

I don't really have much to add to this conversation that the other moderators haven't already covered...

I've run accross some really kick ass cops and I've run accross some real ass holes too... Thankfully its been more of the first for me...

If you're going to talk smack about them talk about the particular cop that busted you, not cops in general... They are people too... Too tell you the truth if you started talking smack about people in my profession, as a generalization, I'd be all over your ass about it... Make a point to talk about the one PERSON that treated you that way... Not that it was ALL of the cops... I have friends that are cops and you'd be amazed at just how bad they can F*^K if they really wanted to!!!

My Criminal Justice Prof. was a cop for 27 years and he admits himself that there are a bunch o bad cops out there. he says that sometimes they do things that are wrong and searching without consent is a violation. he said if you say they can not search your car, the closest they can get is drug sniffing dogs. if the dogs sense drugs or whatnot then the cops can search.

not all cops are bad

:chug: :chug: :chug: :chug:
Not all cops are bad, i've been pulled over 6 times in the last two months for speeding, clear taillights, and blue turn signals. Of the 6 times i've gotten two tickets, both were resonable, but the other day i got pulled over for doing 85 in a 60 comming off the express lanes. The stater was really nice she just said to slow down and be careful. There will always be some bad cops out there looking to bust people simply because they have a highly modified cars, and they look suspicious. However, most cops are resonable and understanding if you simply explain the situation. (Well thats my opinion atleast)

cops are just like anyone else you will meet. some of them are nice others are jerks.
its the same thing if you go to a prty. there will be some cool people there and you will probably meet some unpleasant people also.

i had alot of run-ins with cops when i was younger. and ive found 60% of the cops i meet are good guys just doing their jobs. there is that other 40% though that thinks the badge makes them god. you find those kind of people in all places in life. your boss or teacher etc...

not all cops are bad people. ive gotten let off of alot of stuff becuase of nice cops that have the opinion of " hes just a kid. hell hopefully learn from this" and they just say they will let me go and hope they never have to see me again in that way.

theres several occasions where i could have spent a few days in juvy or jail where the cops has been nice and just told me to go home.

just my $.02

Ok, well, I guess I'm in the 20% of Mofodela's good cop classification. The thing that gets me though, is when someone takes it upon themselves to change something on their vehicle, (when the manufacturers, and govt, etc., have made that way for a reason), without checking to see if it is ok to do or not. Then, you get stopped by an officer because it is illegal, you want to b*tch that we are wrong. Get you head out of your a** !!! As an officer, I'm willing to admit that he may have done some things wrong, according to your side of it, but there are always two sides to every story, and the truth is some where in between. Just because other people have changed their bulbs, and it looks cool, doesnt mean you have to. If they jumped off a bridge to their death, would you jump? Probably not. The items on a stock vehicle have had research, etc. done to make sure it measures up to a certain safety standard, along with some measure of universality. This way, some one from another country doesn't come here with his family for a vacation, and get creamed going through an intersection because he doesn't recognize a blinking blue light on the corner of your truck as a turn signal, and fail to yield the right-of-way. If you feel that strongly that the officer violated your rights somehow, go speak to one of his supervisors. If its a matter of embarrasing you and your suit-wearing, clean-cut image, get over it !!

I've heard 98% of cops have hemroids....

The other 2% are pure assholes.

very well put Rick. Another question for the cop, recently 29 of my friends received MIPS (Minor in Possession) from the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission). I was just gonna say I bet you are the kind of cop that gives these out at parties left and right. I was supposed to get one too but I snuck out the bathroom window. I just want to point out a big difference between certain types of cops even though it is really evident. Many parties we have in the city of Dallas get busted by the Dallas Police and they don't do a thing, not even take the liquor, even when we have kegs. They just politely tell us to make sure everyone has a designated driver. Then we go to this party at a lakehouse 1 hour outside of Dallas and the boondock country police bring the TABC with them and try to give out as many MIPS as possible while there was maybe only 4 or 5 cases of beer there. I just wish there was some pattern of conformity and uniformity among the police and their tactics etc in the US.

Good one Rick. Gimp, I've been a little busy at work the last few months, being assigned to a drug/gang tac unit. And this past week, dealing with the loss of one of my partners in a freak car accident. Hornz, if I'm the cop you referred to, the minors should have gotten citations for drinking underage. There will be more than enough time for these kids to turn into alcoholics when they become adults. This is part of the reason why there are so many delinquent kids running around in society, doing whatever they damn well please. Drinking at an early age, doing drugs, comitting crimes, and having babies at the age of 12 or 13. There are no values instilled in these kids from within their homes. Then their parents expect police officers to babysit their kids while they let them run the streets, while mommy or daddy are at home tipping back a 40 oz, smoking the glass pipe. When their kids finally do come home and terrorize the household, its "quick, call the police and have him taken out of here." You would be amazed at how fast some parents try to turn over their kids to the state, so that the parents can resume their partying life style (because they were never taught better either). People are not willing to accept their responsibilities, and this is why trying to prevent a minor from drinking, when he should be concerned about keeping his little a** in school, and bettering himself, is one thing that a lot of officers do. A lot of the members on this board may not agree with some of the things I say, and thats ok, but these are problems that, in talking to officers all over the US, are common just about everywhere. There is also a thing called liability. If I were to let a bunch of kids go after drinking, and something happens to them, guess what. I become the victim of a B.S. lawsuit, because I was trying to cut the kid some slack, and not get him in trouble with his parents. I'll be damned if I'm gonna lose everything I've worked my as** off for, for some little bratty a** kid. I will also guarantee that for those on this site that know me, I'm not your typical a**hole, power-driven cop that some of you have come to hate. Actually, most will say that they are surprised to find out what I do for a living. Let me see by a show of hands (LOL), how many of you would be willing to put your lives on the line for a community of people that you didn't know. This is a thankless job, that not everyone can do. I will also bet money on another thing. To some of you, cops are a**holes, and you hate us, but, who do you call when someone steals your precious little lawnmower, and you want it found, and back to you before it gets dark out? THE POLICE !!!

You are right about the lawsuits and what not Jack. I live in one of those neighborhoods where everyone lives in a $4 million house and drive brand new Z-28 Camaros, Yukons and whatnot. I appreciate how my parents have raised me though i.e. not buying me a brand new car, giving me money whenever I want it and basically not letting me do whatever I want. In addition, I go to a private high school that costs excess of $10,000 a year. It is the proto-typical "preppy" lifestyle for all my friends. My parents made me get a job, wouldn't buy me a brand new car, etc. Anyways, after these kids got their MIPS, every kids parents ran out to their high priced lawyers to defend them and in addition the people whose house the party was got sexual harrasment charges brought against the person who called the cops for touching some of the girls that were there and he's probably going to jail. In addition, they brought lawsuits against the T.A.B.C. and the county sherrifs department that was there for god knows what because everyone caught there was guilty as hell. I wasn't trying to hate on you Jack, I just wish all cops could practice a degree of conformity between them instead of this vast difference between cop A and cop B. The worst part of the MIP thing is that not one of the kids parents did a single thing to punish them but instead immediately thought there little babies didn't do anything wrong and of course it was the cops fault.

Peace

Hornz, I don't hold it against you. And, I actually just got a chance to go back and read some of the other posts, which would have saved me a few breaths...LOL. I know people need to vent somehow, and thats why I didn't read all the posts first, but had to hurry up and get my 2 cents in. LOL Hey, when it comes down to it, I would put my life on the line for any of you if it came down to it.

Ha thanks, I was trying to be as objective as possible. I agree with you and I have only good things to say about every Dallas Police officer I have had encounters with, etc. It is really the country boonie sheriffs who try to be the ultimate enforcers and be super hardasses that piss me off.

BTW, how do you like the sound of your Flowmaster 50. I am gonna get one but I would appreciate it if you could describe the sound, etc. I know V8 will sound different than V6 but are you impressed with the Flowmaster, etc.

For me and the friends I grew up with, we all experimented with alcohol as minors and by the time we were of age the thrill had worn off and we all barely drink at all now.

Of course there are those who have alcoholism in their family which makes it more likely that they'll become alcoholics themselves.

Straight up Jack... ya said how it was.... Like it should, and yes, WTF... that's why I'm in the field... to provide better for others! Risking life daily... I know it's in the realm of possibility, and do know, to show others that I care fer em, cause like hell in this profession, you never know who may pull a .45 cal with armor piercing ammo... scary thought! But possible... Not to mention, about the alcohol thing and liability, I just learned this last week in juvenile justice of the case in Conn, where a cop let kids go after findin open beer in the vehicle, they were sober, but then down the road, head on colison killing someone innocent.... I totally understand where yer comming from.... BTW... Y'all, I've met Jack a few times, and he's a good guy :)

Heh, if I had my way the cops would be able to ticket those parents for being dumba**es too! Then maybe smack 'em around a little bit with a wet towel. Oh, am I taking this too far? Sorry... :D

$4mil. houses eh hornz? can ya spare a few grand? lol

anyway, I agree with that to some degree, I'm totally against the underage (and even.. overage? I guess?) drinking, but people are gonna do what they're gonna do, and it is partially the parents fault. Back in HS I saw people get busted all the time, spend the night in jail, and then simply find a more secluded place to do it the next time. The people that do this kind of thing and get busted are the ones that never learn.

Even w/ the clear lenses, if I were to get busted for mine, I'd probablly never use them again.. but I've seen lots of people around here that still have theirs after having at least 1 fix it ticket. The cops here are good about it, as long as you keep a red reflector on the back and red bulbs in there they don't care.

Cops have a hard job having to deal with the kind of people they do, it is definatley a sort of behind-the-scenes job that we are all very thankful for, just.. not when we're being fined LOL , it just seems sometimes, people don't learn their lesson and trying to teach them is almost fruitless to a degree.. how does that saying go? "you can't teach an old dog new tricks".. well, you can't teach a puppy very easily either sometimes

Thanks Pete ! Hornz, the I haven't heard one on a V6, but on a V8, its a little louder than stock. At idle, its nice and mellow, and when you put your foot in it, its nice and throaty. It makes you really feel that you have a V8. What I did was called Flowmaster, talked to a rep, and told him the sound I wanted, and he recommended the 50.
