I Hate COPS!!! This is absurd!!!!

Im an MP in the Army, and anytime someone gets pulled over on post, its for something stupid. if someones doing 85 on post where the speed limit is 30, then yeah theyre getting the blue lights on em. but as far as drinking under age is concerned? if they are in there barracks not driving, i have absolutely no problem with it. Drugs however, I have to get people for that. All my other military brothers know that the DoD doesnt take too kindly to that. Do I think weed should be made legal.. yup. make it legal and tax the sh** out of it. it could make money. but the thing about that is, I think alot of people would stop doing it if it were legal. out of my friends that do it. I think they do it just for the pure fact that it is illegal and they get a rush out of it. just my .02 (which is the BAC limit on post!!!)

Wow this thread goes all over, here is my .04 (2 topics)

1st- My dad (who is a Capt. on the L.A. County Sherrifs Dept. more on that in my 2nd) let my sister and me start drinking on family ski trips to the Colorado river when we were in our early teens. I don't mean go to the cooler and grab a beer when ever we wanted, just a few here and there. As we got into our late teens he said we could drink whenever we wanted whatever we wanted as long as we were at HOME. He has never actually come out and said it , but I feel he wanted us to experiment at a younger age so as the psi of teen- hood approached we wouldn't do something stupid.
I now have two daughters 3 and 4, I too will do the same as my Dad did with us.

2nd- My Dad has been a cop for more than 30 years now and will retire in 2. I've spent my whole life growing up with cops. I sat around listening to stories about him and his friends going on calls and making stops, getting guns pointed at them point blank, finding guns, drugs, needles, knives on sweet and innocent looking girls and guys, as well as thugs and bangers. They told me they approach EVERY stop like it could be their last. If you don't know any cops you can't even imagine what these folks have to go thru on a daily basis. However they still are people, my Dad put it to me this way once when I had a prob with a Sherrif that was a complete *****. He said think of all the people you know, or work with, are they ALL nice...? Or easy goin...?

The point I'm trying to make here is not ALL cops are pricks, and to say "I HATE COPS" is a disturbing statement. Maybe to say that you hate the one that gave you S*!$ would be more appropriate

If you don't believe me, go to your local Law Enforcement and tell them you want to go on a ride along, I did it... again I say, you can't believe what Cops have to deal with on a daily basis.

MOST COPS are good. In this day in age you could not pay me enough to be a COP!

The above is just my opnion NO NAStY-GRAM RESPONCES PLEASE!

Late,

Johnny V.

HOOAH JOHNNY V!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have an AS in Police Science and a BA in Psch. And if I am correct in my facts and your lights flash amber and red then the color of the lens is irrevlant. What about all the POS's that you see with red duct tape or gray duct tape over the lens to cover it. Is that legal? No. I don't live in a big city and and I don't crusie town with enough bass to kill a small horse ( Well at least not yet anyways!). But as long as they are in the same color scheme I see no reason why they would stop you. Legal colors for the state of Tennessee are red, amber, yellow and white. But I run blackouts during the day time.

Anyways I am just waiting for a cop to run my DL#. It is the same as my gun permit and that should make him or her jumpy and have me questioned for that and the fact that I sutter makes it all the more fun to me stopped by a cop. Gotta love it LOL

Wow, I don't venture into the Sport Trucks posts very often and look what I stumbled upon. It's interesting to read what other people view as correct and to see where they're from and what they do for a living.

I know a lot of cops and highway patrol that have been very laxed about their kids drinking. One of my closest friends in high school could just call her dad and tell him we were going to come and drink at the house and he was fine with it. The highway patrolman down the street who busted me one night for having people at my house just told me to keep it quiet.

Maybe it's because I'm from a smaller town (~200,000, very farm related), but drinking underage has never been an issue. Cops just about NEVER give out MIPs unless you're WAY out of line, but my friends and I have been busted at parks, houses, lakes, and they just either take the alcohol and tell you to stop or just tell you to shut up.

About the drinking underage thing, I don't think it has much to do with parents not watching or paying attention, but I think it has WAY more to do with how you're raised and the friends you make. I've heard that you've learned all the morals and things that you're going to learn that will help you lead your life by the time you're about 10, I think, and the rest is up to you. I believe it. As soon as I started driving, I was GONE.

My parents never had a problem drinking in front of me or anything like that, but my Mom was nuts about me drinking. She didn't ever want me to do it. She thought that just because I left the house I was doing crack (counseling late in my high school life with her cleared that one up :)). I don't think that drinking is the reason that people end up making a life long career at McDonalds. I did my share of stupid things in high school and I'm still doing them at college (UCLA). I do agree with the getting it out of your system while you're under 21. Most of the older guys I know don't really feel like going out all the time because they've been there and done that.

And I also completely agree with the statement that we all have our own opinions. About all the cops stuff, sometimes there are jerks, I've met some of them, but there are also nice guys (Like the guy who let me go with a fix it ticket for a cracked windshield when I was going WAY too fast while I was racing on the way home). Without police our lives would be nuts. I appreciate the things they do for us, but they have their fair share of @$$holes among them too.

I do'nt really know why I felt like telling my life story, but to any of you who get through all of this, more power to 'ya.... I guess

well I am glad to see that this did not get deleted yet. Every time i post something like this on the mustang forum to vent it always gets deleted asap.
Anyways something similar happed to me a few months back.
I got out of class late- around 9pm... and was on my way home(about an hour). About three mins from school I am on the on-ramp and all of a sudden the flashing lights come on and I pull over. This snotty cop comes up to my window and starts going off.... Politely I asked what I have done???? The main reason he said was because I had a tinted license plate cover!!!! So he writes me a ticket for that... then he said my window tint was to dark... so i got a ticket for that... then I had blue/white bulbs in my headlights... ticket for that... and a did not have my front license plate on.....ticket for that!!!! I was like what the hell.... i was not speeding... i was not doing anything and I get pulled over for this. So i had to go through inspection and everything.... they funny thing is i passed fine without changing anything!!!!!!!! That cop had nothing better to do that night then bust my b*lls!!!!! I cant stand most of them either!!! Like you said I think they are all trying to get back at us for picking on them in middle school or something.

On another note... I had this cop come up to me in a traffic jam just to tell me he really liked my truck and though it was awesome... then he saw my V-1 radar detector and was telling my how great that is also- lol... that was a pretty cool cop! Wish more were like him-

Now a days I feel like its a crime to have a good looking car/truck. Cant change this, cant change that, no tinted windows.... this and that- pisses me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually dont get along with cops. Most of them do seem to abuse their power and like to pick on teens. I have been pulled over a few times.
the first time some old man mowing his yard called the cops after a friend and i were out wheeling. He told the cops we were driving 50 miles and hour slinging mud all over his yard. As I pulled into my street I had a cop pull me over. He had been sent out to find us. he was a young cop full of attitude. he gave me some crap on how he could write me a ticket for speeding and reckless endangerment and some other things. Now I know that I was not speeding. I just sat there and took his crap, because I knew he had nothing on me and was just trying to scare me.

Another time I was pulled over was last month. I just got my dad's 2002 vette for the weekend and was out looking for some honda with a big wing and coffee can. Eventually I meet up with this guy in a Camero SS( nice car by the way). We head out to the country near the industrial park to a isolated street about a mile long. We sit and talk for a while then go to see what our cars could do. after we run a quater mile, we stop again and talk. comparing cars and talking about when he (ss driver) was younger. about 40 minutes later this sherrif (sp?) pulls out just 50 yards from where we were. he was hiding by some power station. he pulls up and talks to us about drag racing. in TN if you are caught you will lose your lisence for a year. he runs our liscenses then hands them back to us. He tells us to tell our friends not to come back to this street because they are starting to watch it now. A VERY cool cop. I guess he was a country boy by the way he looked and liked the look of the two chevy sports cars next to each other. oh well I am gratefull though
Matt

There are good people and bad people. Cops are not excempt from that. While there are some bad, sour cops out there, I try my best to restpect the rest of them. It is one hell of a job that they have to do, and they will be the ones you call when someone is breaking down your door. Remember, they deal with drunk drivers, killers, robbers, gang bangers, child molesters, wife beaters, drugs, guns, prostitutes, terrorists, an unlimited supply of car accidents, and they have seen some of the strangest things, and heard the stupidist, lamest excuses and lies from the worlds most pathetic people.

HAHAHAHA you make me laugh. You run illegal lights on your truck and whine about it when you get pulled over. Then when you are pulled over you dont think two shot glasses in plain view are enough for him to search your truck?

Dude!

They can impound your truck for having a bottle cap. In Utah they can take your truck and rip it completley apart if you have anything in there, bottle cap, shot glass, seed, anything...

Dont you get it? There are a ton of psycho's out there, the cop doesnt know who he's dealing with, I dont care if you are wearing a tuxedo, he's got to be careful.

Be happy you didnt get a ticket and a big fine. If you dont want cops to harrass you, then remove the illegal lights from your truck............

I understand coming here to vent, I mean I have been pulled over for stupid reasons (or at least I thougth it was stupid) and it made me mad, I come here to vent sometimes like when I get screwed by a mechanic or a dealer. But when a cop pulls you over for something, gives you a hard time for having illegal lights, and then lets you go, you should be happy, not mad.

If he did give you the tickets and fine you a bunch of $$ and then make you go in for an inspection, then you could plea your case to a judge, but he didnt, he doesnt sound like such an A hole to me, just doing his job!!!

Now dont get me wrong, I;m on your side. I dont think you should have gotten pulled over either, he probably was in a bad mood, and he probably was just giving you a hard time, but guess what, there are always going to be cops out there like that driving around, so if you dont want this to happen over and over dont give them a reason to pull you over!!!!!

Live and learn...........
