I swear, it follwed me home. Kert's B2 project

Are you not concerned with having the studs sticking out past the wheel on those dually wheels?

I'm not too concerned about it the nuts are still inside the beadlock's plane. I am planning on cutting the excess stud length off once the nuts are on. Most of the wheeling this will see will be in Midwest trails where there aren't a lot of rocks to scrape against anyway. If it's a problem I can always switch them out later.

I was thinking it may not be a concern depending on the terrain the truck will see, but was just curious.

These are on their way...

Update

Update: These came in the mail, got them from the G-force outlet for a discount since they have been sitting on the shelf and they needed to switch out their stock to keep SFI dates current. I already had one black one from another project.

Also picked up a new gun for the welder since it's original mid 80's gun was showing it's age. It welds like a new machine. I made sure to get a 15 footer too since the old 10 footer was always just a little too short :D

Started mounting the rear coil springs. I have them shifted forward since they are EB front coils and are a little stiff to be mounted right over the axle.

Keep in mind, the "link" still needs a lot of gusseting/bracing. I have 3/16" flat bar that I am going to weld the length of it to "cap" the link.

Nice work! I have only seen one other BII in life with rear coils.. that was a 4 link truck... this is so cool!

Very unique, indeed. Wonder if wheel hop or axle wrap will be a problem?

Axle wrap is the only thing I am worried about with this setup. To counteract this I have made the rear link as long as possible. I don't remember the exact length, but it is over 4ft long from axle center to pivot point. I am also doing my best to keep the links flat at ride height. I am also going to run limit straps at all 4 corners just in case, I don't want the joint to be the "stop" of the suspension. I've read on Pirate of some one-link "fails" and have tried to learn from others mistakes. The last thing I want is a truck that "humps rocks" as it tries to climb them. If I don't like the way this works, it will be fairly easy to add a couple links, flip the main one around and make a wish boned 3-link out of it.

i am yet still intrigued by this set up this is the first one link set up iv seen it is very inspiring

Started "plating" the link as promised. I'll let the pictures do the talking since I'm a little warn out after laying at least 35 linear feet of weld this evening....

that should hold!!

Rear axle is in. Only thing left to finish fabbing is the panhard (using another temp one out of angle again...) I am also going to gusset the panhard mount on the frame. Here it is sitting on all 4 wheels for the first time in quite a while. Wheel base is around 9 ft.

You want some updates or something? :D

It's nowhere near done, but I wanted to do some spring cleaning in the garage. Remember how I made the jack stands the highest that this could be and still make it through the garage door? Looks like I had a pretty good guess, even though the engine is now out so I can start on the rebuild.
