What it was!

The Story:

Back in Spring of 2002 I desided to by my 1999 Ford Explorer XL 4X4. We orignaly looking to replace my wife's '98 Escort but came upon my truck first. I to was in need of a new truck, sence I became board with my '96 Ford Ranger. This is still the best truck I ever owned, but it was only 2wd and even set up as a pre runner, I was still limitd to where I could go. I wanted 4X4 so I could really have some fun. I bought my EX with 82k on it which is kinda high for a 3 year old truck. However I could not pass up the deal. A 3 year old 4x4 for under 10k! This is the truck about 7 months later after doing a the famous TT/ ShaQ and installing 31" BFG AT's

Now having 31's it was time to get her dirty! ;) In Feb. of 2003 I went on my first off-roading trip to a place called Rowher Trail were I met this Crazy fool named Jefe  He was running a 2000 xlt with 35's on it! I could not belive what I was seeing, but his truck later became my role model.

After this trip I Learned some important things..

Flex sucks with sway bars attached! :nono:

By May I was ready for more after I made some custom sway bar disconect which proved to make a world of difference! The truck did very well, and I went places were others may have thought I would not make it.
Stick-O is a total sport. He took the minor damage very well (just some scratches to his rocker and plastic bumper cover, and a bent gas tank). Get a skid plate for the gas tank and come on back out Steve
Stic-o, glad you made it out with us. I know how you must have felt to take a prestine Explorer out in the terrain we were in but you seemed to take it all in stride.

12287truck_rock.jpg

Unfortantly they were right  A skid plate would have been very handy. The picture above shows the entire truck hi-centered on the gas tank :nono:

After this I kina layed low for awile. I knew doing damage like that every time I went out, would equal not much of a truck left real soon. It took about 3 months to find some skid plates for my truck. In the fall Jefe started into his SAS project and removed his 3" body lift. I picked it up from him, with all the hard work done already (bumper bracket all drilled thank you jefe) I installed it a week later a finished it in about 7-8hrs. by myself.

The next run I went on was a biggie. I went to T-haven were I finally met Rick (Nice Guy ;) ) I also saw faces from other runs. This weekend was a blast and I finally got to really see what my truck could do as well as others to

In march me and Jefe went to Last Chance Cayon. Had tons more fun...
SANY0010.jpg

Besides who else would drive on huge pipe with ya? :D

This is also where I learned, that if Jefe dosn't want to try something....Maybe I should take it as a hint! ...and not try to be ballsy
12287dsc00531s.jpg

No I didn't roll it! :nono: Thanks to some smart thinking. But I thought Jefe was gonna have a heart attack :D

the story contines....but you'll have to ask ;)

Newly Updated :D
