It wasn't THAT bad of a car! I was really worried about space. I'm 6'2" so headroom is always an issue. I think there was more headroom in that than in the Explorer. It only have 13k on it but the motor did make an alarming tapping noise at times. It could have just been the diesel (this was a first for me) but it just didn't sound natural. Regardless it did the 400 miles for me without incident!

Ha Ha. If only..

I have returned safely! That was very different but at the same time I caught on quickly and can now flawlessly drive a manual transmission. It wasn't a Corsa, it was a Peugeot 207 1.4HDi. It was too bad. Made sure to use the full rev band to accelerate. The dang thing got 64MPG. WTF? That is crazy. I did 400 miles and barely used 3/4 of a tank.

I need a rest, I'll be making a post on my blog about it later this evening. Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Glad you made it in on piece. One of the guys I work with was driving in GB and fell back to his "American ways" and returned the rental car with a few bits missing...

On the mpg, remember that an imperial gallon (British) is about 17% larger than an American gallon, so the #'s will be higher. However, that's still dang good mileage even when converted to US mpg.

Yea, it was al little hard. Especially when I got tired. I found making a right hand turn the hardest. I would always end up aiming for the right lane. That also screwed things a bit when looking for traffic. But no worries, I caught my self each time.

Ha Ha! It's rough at times. My parent's '02 Explorer was the worst. I had to move the seat the whole way back and lean it back to an uncomfortable angel so my head would just miss the roof. Surprised me for such a small car.

Todd, do the later Explorers have less head room? I'm 6'2" also and the Explorers are great, given power seats.

now you can see why we hate the french so much there cars are as well made as a mecarno set and to top it off they eat frogs and spit when they talk kill the pug before you give it back

If it wasnt for us they'd be german! twice!!

The seats without headrests are the worst in the '02-'05s. That coupled with a sunroof meant zero headroom for me. My sister had a true '02 (parents had an early model made in '01) with a sunroof that I had no trouble with. The '07 isn't bad either. I'm not sure what changed in the seats, I couldn't find anything. There is a huge difference though.

Hey Todd is that you back home soon?
have we missed our chance?
