I just got my pair of Infinity 5752cf 5x7 2-way speakers today and installed them in the front doors of my 98 X-Sport 2 dr. Other than the installation being a PITA, when I installed the 2nd speaker I noticed that it would play with either the wires switched or on like normal. Is this ok? Also, on that same speaker I noticed HORRIBLE distortion and buzzing on alot of the lower notes(coming from the woofer) when I actually put my had against it while playing it would go away, but when I took it off it sounded like crap. Is the speaker blown? Is there a way to fix it? Also I noticed that my door panel is loose now and rattles when you hit it. How can I fix this? Please someone help me, I'm getting discouraged very quickly!:(

What exactly does a blown speaker entail? The one that rattles looks like it's in new condition w/ no rips or tears in the rubber surround or on the woofer. Is there a way to fix this?

Distortion

Sounds like you may have tightened the screws too much and warped the speaker frame. Back off the screws till it returns to shape then just snug them. or tighten them equally.

i can't fix your problem, but i have the same speakers in all four doors and LOVE them! I can't seem to praise enough about the sound quality of Infinity's.

Ok I took it out of my passenger door today na d tested it by just resting it on the floor of the car. The distortion still occured even though I didn't have screws in it. When I looked closely at the speaker cone I noticed that it was torn away from the "red coiled canvas looking thing" I pushed the woofer cone down and it clicked into place. I then tested it at low volume and it sounded perfect, when I turned up the volume, it popped out of place and distorted again. Is there a way of glueing or fixing this? if so how is it done? Thanx for your help!

How do you post pics on the message board? I have pics showing the difference of the cone up and the cone where it should be.

well it sounds like ya got a bad speaker, if what youre describing is what I am envisioning, it sounds like the cone is unattached to the spider, maybe they missed the glue on it!!! Anyways theres a couple things to do, first and foremost would be to repair them, hopefully you have a warranty, if so just send em in. If you dont, some audio shops will repair for a fee, or you could repair yourself, if you find an adhesive to attach the polypropylene (i think) cone to the Cotton? spider, this should solve your problem..... If not... A pawn shop, or the trash can...... goood luck
