the 4th gen mirrors come in 3 types; black plastic like what the 3rd gen's are, color-keyed/painted to match your vehicle, or chrome.

I'm going to do either color-keyed or chrome, eventually... don't wanna take off the door panels

Yes. Took me about an hour to do both sides which included modifying the puddle lights with LEDs.

Door panels are easy, 2 screws on the bottom. Pop off the window switch panel (carefully) and there's 1 more screw for the door handle. Lift panel up to take it off. Didn't even need to take it completely off.

Next question.. where did you get them.. I love the chrome, I planned on ebay mirrors and then chrome covers...but I dunno if the aftermarket ones are as good as OEM.

yessir. They can be had on ebay, as well as from the stealership.
