Hey guys, I'm going to tackle rebuilding my Ford Explorer 2003 Limited AWD differential and wondering if I can install a Ford Traction LOK?

FORD RACING TRACTION - LOK LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL W/ CARBON DISCS - 31 SPLINE 8.8 IN. (86-14 V8; 11-14 V6)

Differential description: http://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-31spline-88-carbondisc.html

The information off my case says:
RF-1L2W-4025-BA (6) (case markings)
V 600F 73 88 3A24 (case tag ID)

Note: I'll be using the step-by-step instructions found on this Forum called "8.8 Axle Facts ans Swap info"..... If there's more or better, I'll be hunting before starting this adventure...

Yes that should work fine, call Ford Racing if you need confirmation. Keep us updated, as I myself am interested in their Torsen unit for my '05.

When I had my 2000 Grand Marquis, I had an Eaton LSD installed on recommendation, instead of a Ford LSD, and it was perfect. Our SUVs have a similar powertrain, so it's something to consider.

04 is that an Eaton TrueTrac helical LSD?

Believe so, but it was a while ago. I just remember bringing it to a gear shop, and he suggested an Eaton over a Ford traction-lok. Same thing different brand if I remember correctly. It worked great for years.

It's a shame all our trucks didn't come with at least the option to order a LSD as a stand alone upgrade.
