I plan on putting front and rear lockers in my 92 explorer. I currently have stock or a little over stock sized tires. My question is should I change the gears while doing the job? I plan on doing a lift and bigger tires in the future. Should I wait to see what size tires I end up with, and then do the gears? I'm up too speed on the whole gear ratio thing. Any help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

All depends on how long till you lift and the tire size.

Are you installing full carrier lockers (detroit, ARB, most limited slips etc.) or just a lunch box locker (aussie, powertrax, etc)? If you're doing a full carrier locker you're going to have to pay for a lot of labor, twice, if you don't do gears now. If you're just using lunchbox lockers then you can wait on the gears since it won't really be any repeat labor down the road.
