if you open the hood it tells you on the engine.

custexplorer - Welcome to the forum!

The V8 Explorers typically had a badge on the rear liftgate and/or elsewhere on the exterior indicating it has a V8 engine. It may have fallen off or been removed. In that case BrooklynBay's link will work.

You could also open the hood and look at the engine. The V8 should say "4.6L SOHC" in big letters on a large metal part in the center towards the rear of the engine. The V6 will say "4.0L SOHC" on a large black plastic part on the right hand side (facing it from the front) toward the drivers side.

Rumple

LOL geesh!

we dont flame people here for asking questions, even though this can be viewed as a silly question: did you ever think it takes some balls to ask this?

I vote custexplorer has kahones, and besides how do you know if its a guy or a girl? and how do you know they are not 16? this is their first car? or heck, what if nobody ever showed them how to look at an engine?

At least they come hear and ASK!! You HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE

Booo66 your response is funnay! but please dont flame newbie's when they have a legit question, flame them when they are inappropriate

as an example of a dirty 4.6L

Actually I'm not 16.

I'm 15 and this is my first car. Didn't know it would be listed under the hood.
Thanks for the people who kindly (that word being used loosely) helped me.

Look forward to sponging in a plethora of knowledge from the forum.

Thanks guys.

Which engine do you have? Could you add your vehicle, and location to your profile? You could add details in the link which says vehicle specs.

Will do tonight.

V6 :(. Can't complain, inherited it with 8k miles on it last month.

It must be like new.

In the short time my grandpa managed to let a cigarette rest against the gauge bevel (discolored and dis-formed area), scratch up every corner of the bumper, and get some bad spots on the carpet. So far I'm in the process of touching up the bumpers, and febreezing / airing out the cab, painting the calipers red, painting the logos to match the bumper and cleaning the carpets.

I called the dealership about the gauge bevel and they said the only way I could get one is buying the whole dash - (over 1k) so I dont know what I'm going to do about that. Over my highschool years I plan on new rims, ram air, cat back exhaust ran through the center of the bumper with two exhaust tips, a grille guard, a nav system, coa, and a powerflash.

also you may check Ebay

15 with your first car and its a 05 witha SOHC V6, man be proud be very proud! LOL

I had my first car at 15.5, I couldnt drive it until 16, those 6 months went by so slow! I washed that car like 47 times LOL..

Congrats!! Nice truck!

I want to know who was being rude to this kid? I was just saying look at the engine. Usually says in on top like rumperdoll said.

Good luck with this truck. Bought my current truck as my first vehicle too. Done some crazy stunts in her and she keeps kicking. This is a good first vehicle.
