Is the A4OD a wise option?

I have a '91 XL, with the A4LD tranny. Is the A4OD a wise choice for a auto swap upgrade, or is there something better? I want to keep the overdrive option. I was also wondering if anyone has done this swap to say what kind of work and/or adapters it takes to make such a swap. Later I plan to install a Atlas II transfer case, will that work behind the A4OD? Any info will help my project along!

Why not just go for the 700R4 adaptor? AA has the kit already made and the 700 is as close to bulletproof as can be. I think they may even offer a deal with an atlas
