j602's 2wd Beast

Caleb, you're such a weiner. My 2wd will outflex your poo crap heep any day. :D But yeah, the carport is great! We made it super tall, so if I ever decide to go with some military axles and 44's, it will still fit. :p I am going to go with 35's. I found a sweet deal on some used Toyo Open Country M/T's so I'll probably get those.

Get the new lift under it yet??

Well it's funny that you ask......no. :p The fawkers at Skyjacker still haven't shipped the damn thing. But I did get a decent chunk of work done today.Got pretty much all the existing parts ripped out and ready for the new goodies. Should be done by the end of next week.

So what you guys got planned for that box of ammo?

We're gonna mount an Ak-47 on the hood. Lol, that's my dad's old ammo box. Now, we keep fireworks in it and use it for sitting on and putting things like bumpers on them.

haha j602's arsenal. mount a gatlin on the roof, and put shotgun holders where the side mirrors go

4x2! Wooo! Wooooo!

Nothin'. Bein' driven around by mom and pop, and my friends. I've been on Skyjacker's ass multiple times, including today, and they still haven't gotten it shipped. I think they're still waitin' on a part to ship it all out.

I'm psyched! The old suspension if completely out, and ready for the new goods! My lift parts are coming in tomorrow and I should have my tires within the next couple days. Getting the old crap wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Rivets were a bit of a pain, but not too terrible. Just gotta grind the **** out of 'em. :D Anyway, Here is a picture of the old suspension dropped. A "before" pic.

Also the drop pitman arm is already on; it's a Rough Country, and looks to be of very nice quality. I'll be going with 35" Dunlop Mud Rovers, since I've been pretty impressed with the performance of my 33's. I also have a CB on the way so that should be in after I get the rest of the parts needed for that install. It's been about 500 miles since my gear change, so I'm going to change the fluid to synthetic and add a chrome diffy cover. *bling* Also on the list to do is to paint the frame above my rear since it is ever so noticeable from the newly acquired height. I'll post pics of the finished product within the next few days.

The huge wood blocks remind me of a t-shirt I saw one day: It was a guy on the trail with his truck a little sideways with wood holding it up as a jack stand while he was working on the rear end. Top of the shirt said "Redneck Mechanic". But anyway, good looking stuff. It's going to look cool. Always keep us updated

Did you buy the Mud Rovers used or new? You said that you wanted to go with a chrome diff cover, but ExplorerDMB^^ said that his started rusting. I say go for a clear gearz, trick flow, etc. IMO, I'd rather save up for a while longer and get one of those than a cheapo ebay cover. Anyways, can't wait to see the new stuff under there.

ExplorerDMB - I live in Alabama, there is nothing BUT redneck mechanicing! :p Lol, yeah the wood blocks are there just for the rare chance that the truck falls off the jack stands. Thanks for the compliments, I'll be sure to post my progress.

Bryan - I bought the muds new at Sam's, so that I would be able to get them serviced for free with and the assurance of a warranty. I already bought a chrome cover on ebay; it was only like 20 bucks. DMB lives much farther up north than I do. We have no snow here, which means no salt, so I don't think it'll be a problem. The cleargearz kick ass, but I just don't feel like spending that much. And I can't wait either! :D

looks excellent so far!! keep up the good work and good luck on the skyjacker!
:)

Thanks rino! I'll need all the luck I can get, since we're gonna try to finish the rest of it in one day.

J602 -- The problem with my cover was that it would just pit from sand on the road. Now, granted, you probably don't have AS MUCH sand/salt on the road, but I'm sure there are grains of something out there. If you do go with the chrome cover, and it doesn't rust - then I'll be happy for it. If it does end up rusting, please tell me! So I can laugh. Ha, no just kidding -- but just know that I warned you. Good luck on the build. I love the carport too! A+

Yeah, I read about the chrome cover rusting in one of your other threads, so I did know ahead of time. Really I just wanted a different cover because I have to change the fluid anyway so I figured I'd do it now instead of twice. The ebay chromie is cheap, so if it falls apart, who cares? :p Yes, the carport is great! It is awesome for working on the truck; it has so much room. The lift should be here within a few hours, I'm stoked!
