So far, initial throttle lag is almost eliminated - which is a good thing since our previous car had great initial pickup,(but not much after that).

As it happens, it's the missus' 40th later this week, so part of her present is a new set of wheels for the truck. Trying to find some nice looking alloys with the correct loading rating, PCD, offset, and Centre Bore is a nightmare for these trucks in Oz. The good news is that any wheel that fits a Territory (Oz built SUV) also fits the Explorer. The bad news is, the load rating between the 2 is about 50kg more for the Explorer. My search for the last 3 or so months to get a set of 17x8 to replace the factory 17x8 narrowed it down to basically 2 sets of rims: CSA Haze, and CSA Raker. I chose the Haze. I could've gone 18's, 19's or 20's and had plenty of choices, but I only wanted to spend about $1k, not $3.5K or $4k!!

A pic of my 3 boys helping with the rim selection:

Anyway, here's a couple of shots of before (love the background in the first one - only in Fyshwick!!!):

Thanks Steve - that's pretty much the look I was going for too too.

I got the HIDs about a week after I bought the truck (about 5 months ago). My previous car had the HID kit as well, and while the explorer lights were OK, they were definitely on the yellow side of white. HIDs give a pure white light and are great. These ones were approx USD$80 off eBay, and have been going strong the whole time - not one issue at all with them; not even interference with the radio, which we used to get intermittently on the previous car.

Oh, and they're 6000k; anything above that is too blue, and is cop bait down here. They don't like blue lights on anything other than emergency vehicles - I now have blue LED puddle lights as my own private protest against this rule.

Some minor work this week - removal of mud flaps, and red callipers front and rear.
