God be with Me

and if it does go bad i will totaley abandone my x wont spend a dam penny on it

um... you have an a4ld with a clutch? or are we talking clutch packs?

Um do a search for driveshaft slip yoke.

Why would he search for that? 4x4 Explorers dont have slip yokes.

You are kidding right?
Every explorer with a live rear axle has a slip yoke in the drive shaft.

Wait...you mean the slip joint?

Because this is a slip yoke:

okay slip joint.

I guess a slip yoke is like a 2wd ranger would have ont he back of the trans? If so then yes I jsut had my terminology wrong..

my bad mr picky :)

Now that thats cleared up...

I'm not sure theres a way those can screw up...they're machined teeth, and stock explorers dont quite have enough power to twist driveshafts.

How about a better description of this "jolting"?

they have been known to make a clunk sound when accellerating, shifting, when the lube dries up, it is covered on this forum often.

the slip JOINT should be lubed every so often :)

My driveline shop uses regular moly lube and it seems to work fine, I have never had a clunk.

Also I have seen Explorer's break axleshafts, U joints, driveshafts, etc. They make plenty of torque.

Does it jerk or bang more when you turn? HAve you been spinning the tires a lot. could be a broken tooth on your Spider Gears.

uhh well you dont normally just break a tooth of the spider gears... they normally EXPLODE. haha

but either way, if your gears were missing teeth, it would have a VERY defined pattern. As in every one revolution of the ring gear you would hear the clunk.

Normally these things dont clunk, they whine and moan.

I think you are experincing normal explorer torque, or you have engine problems. its hard to determine off of your explaination of the noise... can you be more specific?

there is not realy any noise.

It is just a jolting from front to rear motion. it is a motional thing
it is jolting like a bogging jolt  some one help me

i hate mechaics they scam you i wana do this on my own.

already did my u joints on my rear drive shaft and it is still there

Do a search for 'Cleaning the MAF'
