I also have (or I mean, had) a 98 Ford Taurus SHO... it was a fast little sexy thing. In March I was in an car accident and anyway to make a long story short - my car was hauled off to the junkyard while I was in a coma. By the time I came back around (3 weeks later) I sent family to go get things out of my car and the TV and DVD player had magically disappeared. Keep in mind this wasn't some indash plugin system, rather an 8" custom flip down screen replaced where the overheard dome lights go, and a DVD player installed in the drunk and cemented directly to the metal of the drunk through a hole cut out in the carpeting/lining. Trust me, these things were like OEM, someone had to take a lot of time to remove them. Do you have any advice on what I should do? The tow company/junkyard claims they aren't responsible for vehicles, yet i wasn't awake to make any decisions or give input! I also have the same set up in my Explorer and I'm worried the same thing could happen, but hopefully not :p:

contact your insurance agent and your local police.
Try going up the ladder at the wreckers, IE contact the OWNER
Thats BS, heads need to roll

Agreed ^^ However, since you don't know who stole your items, the jy could say your family is as likely to have done it as they are - sounds wicked, but that's how it's done. Police, insurance company, and see if any claims have been filed against the company for any similar acts. If their record is clean, you might just have to make a claim w/insurance for compensation.

Honestly, take it as a lose. 3 weeks have passed by and your stuff is long gone. Odds are the junkyard is going to claim they were stolen by thieves and not them. They aren't gonna keep tabs on everything is a car, especially if they think its junked for good. Sucks, but your stuff is most likely gone for good.

depending on your insurance it might be covered as "stolen items".

but definitely explain it to the police and your insurance agent.

also report the yard to the local better business bureau if you have one.

As a former employee that worked with a tow company in the same office, call the police. Stuff disappears a lot- and sometimes it is someone coming in the yard with someone else picking up a car, sometimes it's workers from the yard... Your stuff didn't unhook itself. Sad to see another GIII SHO go down for the count. :(
