What a load of fun

All ford had to do was extend the connector and it would be a 10 minute job.

My hat is off to those that have done this themselves.

I had to get a friend of mine to get 'em plugged back in, he has very long nd skinny arms, mine wouldn't fit far enough. I could get them started but not "snapped". When I replaced my carpet I found a removable panel on trans hump. It would be easier to remove seats and console and reach down through the hole I believe. All because of a few inches of wire.

I am sure on the assembly line it was easy as could be! :p

It was just poor mpg and with 90K on the motor I decided to just do it while I had the time then wait until it was a problem.

I am sorry. I didnt think of taking pics... I pretty much just took the cupholder and cubby out of the console, removed the 4 bolts (two connecting the front of the console to the dash and 2 connected to the floor), unplugged the wire harness, yanked the console back to the rear to release the bracket and placed it outside the truck. I then looked under the truck and located the approximate location of the floor hatch. I cut a flap in the carpet being carfull not to cut beond where the dash would sit. I removed the 4 bolts and there it all was. Unplugged the old, unscrewed the old, screwed in the new and then plugged in the new. It really wasnt that bad.

those are fun arent they? I have done this without getting into the interior, you just have to reach around the transmission, like make love to it :)

they are cake if you go through the access plate int he floor, unfortunatley I find it a PITA to remove seats and center console to gain access.

It can be done from under the truck, but the first time is a PITA becuase you have to learn how to get your hands up there.

All Ford engine's I have owned have had the 02 sensor plugs in a spot that is a PITA to get too.

Oh, so much fun. I never had to remove the seats though. My arms are too massive to reach through there. LOL. JK. I did try for a while with no luck.

well after sitting on top of the 4.0L engine about 47 times and using ione hand to both clip and unclip those stupid PITA connectors, I think that helps because I can close my eyes, picture the stupid connector in my hand and with enough patience I can get them plugged/unplugged with one hand.

My friends say I am nuts, I have ALOT of patience for this stuff.
Oh and my hands hurt all the time! hahaha

Well, my MPG went up only slightly to 17 MPG. I am hoping it will get better when we switch over from the oxygenated fuel to the regular come spring.
