Hey everyone. I'm thinking about getting some KC daylighters and have a couple questions, and also want some opinions.

First off, can they be mounted upside down. Every pic I've seen has the mount stud pointing down, and mine would have to be up. It seems like the lights should be fine, I just don't want to have to run the covers upside down. If I ever wanted to run the covers.

Also, should I go sealed beam or halogen style. I'm thinking halogen for a couple of reasons, despite the power sacrifice. First, I believe the sealed beam will not be as white based on the light temp. rating on KCs website. I just put in new 55/100 headlight bulbs that are really white, so I don't want them to look yellow in comparison. Second there are plenty of replacement bulb options (130W H3) which would put the output up near the sealed beam, at the same time matching my headlights.

Anyone have any comments or things I didn't think of.

BTW, I just bought some Pilot 704B fogs. I bought them based on what I had read on a post of Bill Kemps I believe, saying they rivaled PIAAs. I haven't wired them yet, but I'm very impressed with the build quality and mounting. They were $60 at Advance Auto.

I have the sealed beam daylighters, and you can mount them any way you want. All KC lights have a 23 year warranty on EVERYTHING, so replacing bulb is not an issue. I have had the daylighters since about '95, and am very pleased with them. The advantage of the sealed beam units is that they put out considerably more light than the halogen units (385,000 candlepower vs. 250,000 or so candlepower), and the elements are more rugged.

As for light color, that's your call, but I prefer the extra light output over the color.

I bought my KC Lights 7 years ago and it broke just after 6-8 months. I didn't know about the 23 year warranty until I joined this site. The turnaround time to get the lites replaced was less than 2 weeks, no questions asked.

No one is going to be able to see the lights color as they will be blinded by them. I would go w/the 150 watt daylighters. Sealed beams last much longer and put out a ton of light.

Looks like sealed beams it is. They're cheaper too I believe. Thanks fellas.

Ive got a brand new pair that You can own for $100.
