Key Fob Range

Explorers that also have the factory remote start feature (only Limiteds?) have enhanced remote range.

Please elaborate. I have a Limited with the factory system and the range just flat our sucks. What is this "enhanced" range you speak of?

It will increase the range but only perhaps by a few car lengths as a few articles have mentioned. Do you have anything plugged into the power or USB ports?

Key FOB distance

I have a new (1200K miles) 2013 Limited with the remote start key fob and over the last week I noticed the distance that both key fobs will work from seems to be really short. I need to be less that 20 feet away from the vehicle. This is happening with both remotes and after a battery change in the remote. I understand it is variable with conditions but what is normally the farthest away I should expect it to work from?

This has happened to me all of a sudden and I have a 2014. My key fob would have issues here and there with working and then yesterday it only works when you're right next to it. Did you get any answers?

FYI, the member you quoted was last seen here on April 23, 2015 and did not get any replies to his post. Do you have anything plugged into the power points or USB ports? I believe the antenna is under the console. I believe the range for remote start should be around 300' depending on where you are.

I'll have to check the power points! We changed both fob batteries. AHHHH it worked! My daughter's car monitor was still turned on. Thank you

Has anyone else noticed or have the problem that the keyfob range is really poor or does not work? When returning to my vehicle after going into a store, it does not seem like it works at all to unlock the doors until I'm right next to the door. I noticed today that when leaving the car, it would still work at 100'+. Anyone else having this problem? It happens with both remotes.

Try and reprogram the key files to your truck had this issue and that solved my problems good luck
